Presiding Officer of the ATC Quetta Nazeer Ahmed Langov held a hearing of the case, during which two guarantors and lawyers of Musharraf appeared before the court and submitted a medical certificate and application seeking one month exemption from personal appearance before the ATC court.
Musharraf had been served several notices to appear before the court in order to hear charges. However, he never turned up, citing health issues.
The judge, though, directed the lawyer to ensure the presence of Musharraf on the next hearing.
“Former Balochistan Chief Minister and Governor Nawab Akbar Bugti was killed along with 35 comrades on August 26, 2006 in Dera Bugti in a military operation. An FIR was registered at Dera Bugti Police station on October 10th, 2009 in which Pervez Musharraf was nominated prime accused along with others. We approached High Court in 2011. Since then there has been no progress in the murder case,” petitioner’s counsel Sohail Rajput told the court.
He informed the court that accused is using various tactics to delay the case since the first day of hearing, adding that the “court should issue arrest warrants. It has been issued earlier but the accused was granted bail from Supreme Court.”
The court directed the Crime Branch to ensure the security of former President so that he could appear before the court.
“It is a high profile case and the pace of investigation is regrettable,” said Rajput. “The court should issue arrest warrants otherwise the former president will continue to use delaying tactics with fake medical issues,” he told Express Tribune.
The hearing was adjourned until October 13, 2014.

Why October 13? The courts are also delaying the matter to dilute the cases for the reasons best known to them. As matter stands the cases against Musharraf will take fifty years to conclude.
@Ali khan: Would you still be of the same opinion had Dr. Shazia been your own flesh and blood? Nawab Bugti never led any rebellion nor did his grandson, the only person who openly was against Pakistan was Nawab Marri and he was vocal about it. Stop misleading the public and I have time and again tried to set the record straight regarding what Nawab Sahab had done for the Bugti Tribe but unfortunately the editors at ET are cowards when it comes to hearing unofficial truth. Censor this like my all other comments you pansies.
@Ali khan: Mr Bugti was killed for demanding a fair probe into the rape of a lady doctor by an army captain at PPL Sui. Please do not try to mislead public opinion.
@Shaikh Mohommad: "No one is above law". This was a military operation targeting no specific person. A precedence like this is dangerous as one day someone may lodge an FIR against Govt and institutions for the current operation in Waziristan.
By the by lets see what happens pertaining to the FIR lodged against powerful persons who have been charged for brutal murders in Model Town. The investigations have not yet commenced and are not likely ever happen.
Someone who challenged the writ of the state. Murdered hundreds of people.is being celebrated as a hero. Mr bugti GOT what he deserved. And this court case has no legAl standing. Such cAses should not be entertained by real courts where traitors are granted any rights. This just proves the courts are either to scared or politically motivated. In both cases it's a sad day for Pakistan. A country that can not help itself. Due to people's personal gains. Maybe the court should come out and say. Hey ur dad was a murderer and only wanted to make more money. What has the bugti leaders ever done for their own people. The answer nothing..sad
@Rawalpindi Kid: No one is above law. Simple as that.
@Abuirma: Remember the saying "the buck stops here".
Musharraf has powerful backing of the establishment and shall never be punished in any court of law, period.
Whether Only Mushraf will appear in Court or other who opened fire on Nawab Bughtti be called ?
Someone should tell Mr. Rajput (1) The SC gave bail to Musharraf stating there had been no evidence provided in this case, and it was without merit (2) Mr. Rajput himself stated Bugti was killed in a military operation - and military operations are not the realm of civilian courts, thus again this case is without merit. If military operations are allowed to be challenged in civilian courts then Pakistan is in deeper trouble that this case alone, (3) you are the one wasting the people's time and resources, not Musharraf. The Balochistan court should have the courage to throw out this case as it is baseless, wihtout merit, a political vendetta, and we all know it.
