The 42-year-old was shot dead in Bhangoria Goth, along with his guard on September 6, within the limits of the Azizabad police station.
Business activities in Ancholi, Soldier Bazar, Abbas Town and other Shia-dominated areas came to a complete halt after Jafria Alliance announced a three-day mourning period - a call backed by the MQM.
The funeral prayer of the deceased was offered today after Zuhr prayers at Mehfil-e-Shah-Khurasan. MQM leaders Haider Abbas Rizvi, Babar Ghauri, Dr Sagheer Ahmed along with other party members attended the prayers.

According to the Mujlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen’s (MWM) spokesperson, Ali Akbar was going home with his children from his ice factory located in Bhangoria Goth, Block-2 of Azizabad, when unidentified armed men, waiting for him near the factory, opened fire at them. Akbar was shot thrice – twice in his chest and once in his abdomen – and his guard Jumman Khan was shot twice. Both men were taken to the Ziauddin Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment.

That the Government lost its' writ long time ago is known to everyone. That political parties have failed to mobilize people and come up with defensive plans and strategies to protect the people of Karachi is shameful. We are not totally helpless and defenseless to protect ourselves. I primarily blame MQM, being the main political party of Karachi, for their failure to lead its' citizens to safety and security. Forget PPP, it is too busy distributing the loot to worry about Karachi.
For a country claimed to have been founded to provide a safe haven for the Muslims of the Indian Sub-Continent, the frequency with which Muslim kills Muslim over nothing more than petty differences in interpretation of the Muslim religion, is simply staggering. Indeed I can think of no other parallel case of similar magnitude where Buddhist kills Buddhist or Christian kills Christian or Hindu kills Hindu or Jews kill Jews over petty differences in interpretation of their respective Religions anywhere in the world over the past decade.
What is particularly ironic is that Pakistan’s founder Mr. M.A. Jinnah would have risked life and limb for following the practices of his original Shia sect of Islam in today’s Pakistan.
Next I wait to hear the oft repeated statement that there is no such thing as intra Muslim sectarian killings in Pakistan as it is inconceivable that a Muslim can kill another Muslim as Islam is the Religion of Peace where even killing one person is considered as killing all humanity making instances like these killings, in Pakistani minds, a RAW / Mossad / CIA perpetrated act by India / Israel / USA to malign Islam and Pakistan.
This is an ugly terrorist act. There is an unwavering need to eliminate all the terrorists from this country once and for all. The corrupt and incessantly inefficient provincial government of Wadera Corruption Party and MQM is directly responsible for this and all acts of violence in Karachi.
A sit in should be staged in front of the Cheap Minister House however MQM instead will punish the common citizens of Karachi by staging dharnas at Numaish and other public roads.
These barbaric acts must be condenmed by all.This is part of conspiracy which is being propogated world wide.
Now Nation is well aware of these cunning elements and has rejected secterian violance.
