Fake Degree: Dasti’s eligibility questioned
The petitioner said that Jamshed Dasti was not eligible under Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution to be a lawmaker.
LAHORE:
A writ petition has been filed before Lahore High Court, challenging the qualification of National Assembly member Jamshed Dasti, who is accused of having a fake education degree. Farooq Ahmad, a voter from NA-178, filed the petition and submitted that the Supreme Court had earlier declared Dasti disqualified. “During the re-election, the returning officer ignored this fact. This allowed Dasti to win the seat,” he said. The petitioner said that Jamshed Dasti was not eligible under Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution to be a lawmaker. He appealed to the court to disqualify Dasti.
