Multiple raids: ANF makes several arrests, recovers contraband

Two alleged smugglers apprehended from parking lot of Benazir Bhutto International Airport

Officials of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Rawalpindi apprehended two alleged smugglers from the parking lot of Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) and recovered 2.5 kilogrammes of heroin from their possession.


The accused have been identified as Liaqat Ali and Shahid Khan, residents of Hafizabad, Punjab. Khan was bound to take off by Kuwait Airlines to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia while Ali is said to be his associate. The same ANF team also apprehended Rizwan, resident of Gujrat, Punjab, at BBIA. The accused confessed to having ingested heroin-filled capsules.

The accused was shifted to a hospital for a surgical recovery of the contraband.

Moreover, ANF officials arrested Abdul Manan, a resident of Diamer, Gilgit-Baltistan, and recovered 1.02kg of hashish from his possession. He was arrested in an operation conducted near Toyota Motors Workshop, Ahsan Ali Link Road, Gilgit.

In another incident, a parcel was intercepted at APX Courier Service Office, Gulzar-i-Quaid, Rawalpindi from which 1.8kg of heroin concealed in six wooden cartons containing stones was recovered.

The parcel was booked by Zahir Muhammad, a resident of Peshawar, and was destined for Shahid Akram, in the United Kingdom.
