CM approves Rs400m for sewerage scheme
The minister urged the officials concerned to complete the project in a transparent manner.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved Rs400 million for a sewerage project in Bahawalpur, Cooperatives Minister Malik Mauhammad Iqbal Channar said on Monday.
The minister urged the officials concerned to complete the project in a transparent manner. “The quality of drinking water for the public should be improved by building filtration plants in the district,” he said.
The tehsil municipal administrator briefed the meeting about the ongoing drinking water and sewerage schemes.
Bahawalpur Commissioner Captain (retd) Javed Akbar expressed dissatisfaction with the TMA’s performance. He directed the officials to make the Tibba Badar Sher water supply scheme functional within a week. The project was completed with the cooperation of the Asian Development Bank.
“The municipal committee should ensure the provision of clean drinking water to the people,” he said. He said a technical committee would monitor the water supply and sewerage schemes.
The public health engineering executive engineer said the government had provided Rs700 million for water supply schemes during the pervious fiscal year. The commissioner directed Mepco officials to provide electricity connections to all water supply tube wells.
The said another meeting would be held after two months to review the progress on the water supply and sewerage schemes.
