SIALKOT: The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Tuesday offered help to the Punjab government for construction of the Sialkot-Lahore expressway, a long-awaited demand to connect Sialkot to other big cities. The offer was made by SCCI President Dr Sarfraz Basheer. “If the Punjab government allows us to collect toll tax, we are ready to build the expressway,” said Sarfraz. “We have sent a number of proposals for the construction of a road from Sialkot to Lahore. The SCCI, however, has not received a green signal.” He said the government had agreed to rebuild the Sialkot-Aimenabad-Lahore road but as per the feasibility report, it would not be possible to turn the road into an expressway. He stressed building an expressway between Sialkot and Lahore to connect business activities of Sialkot with the provincial capital as it would boost the local economy.
