Three teachers, two children killed in Bajaur Agency blast
School van completely destroyed by blast which also left van driver dead, passer-by injured
BAJAUR AGENCY:
A remote-controlled IED blast in Bajaur Agency left six people, including three female teachers and two school children, dead on Tuesday, Express News reported.
A remote-controlled device was placed on the side of the road in Tangi, Salarzai tehsil and exploded when a school van was passing by. The driver of the van was among the deceased.
The blast was so intense that the entire van was destroyed in the explosion. A passer-by was also injured.
Political administration official Sohail Khan confirmed the incident and said that the target of the blast was unclear.
Khan stated that the political administration cordoned off the area and a search operation was ongoing, however, no arrests were made until the filing of this report.
The official further stated that the deceased school teachers, Salma, Sameena and Tabinda, were residents of Civil Colony Khar. He said the two children who were killed were their relatives, while the driver was a local.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the blast.
