No more fakes: Quality control authority holds seminar to mark anti-counterfeiting day
DG said that PSQCA will not let counterfeiters run unchecked in Pakistan

The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has launched a crackdown against substandard counterfeit products in the best interests of consumers and the industry itself, said PSQCA director-general Pir Bakhsh Jamali in a speech read out at an anti-counterfeiting seminar.
PSQCA taskforce teams, with an equipped mobile testing laboratory and consumer NGO representatives, have been regularly visiting markets, stores, factories and open bazaars to combat counterfeiting, he added. The seminar, jointly organised by Helpline Trust, The Consumer's Eye Pakistan (TCEP) and Consumer Voice Pakistan (CVP), was held with the collaboration of PSQCA to mark World Anti-Counterfeiting Day 2014. Jamali hailed it as a step in the right direction to spread awareness about the effects of counterfeiting.
Jamali added that PSQCA will not let counterfeiters run unchecked in Pakistan and will cooperate fully with all relevant stakeholders to eradicate this menace. He also assured the organisers of the seminar of his full support in their work against sub-standard counterfeit products and commended them on their efforts to protect consumers' rights.
The seminar covered a wide range of topics, including ant-counterfeiting activities, consumer protection laws and quality standards, law enforcement and the role of NGOs protecting consumers. It was also attended by representatives from the corporate sector, NGOs, social workers, students and volunteers.
