ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has asked consumers to adopt safety measures while using electric gadgets to avoid any mishap during the current monsoon season.

An Iesco spokesperson said a small mistake or negligence could result in a fatal accident, particularly during rain. “A person could save himself from electric shock by keeping distance from the electric installations and adopting precautionary measures,” said the spokesperson.

The company has asked consumers to replace old wires and refrain from touching live wires. Consumers have also been asked to use electric gadgets having a three-pin plug and ensure that it is properly earthed.

“While using iron, washing machines and refrigerators, always put a wooden sheet under the feet and use rubber-sole shoes. For drying clothes, the consumers should always use cotton rope instead of iron wire and it should not be tied with water pipes or electricity connections,” added the spokesperson.

Children should stay away from electricity poles and wires while playing in the streets and people should not tie their animals with electric poles,” said the official.
