Enforcing the law: Former Rangers man arrested

A former Rangers man was arrested during routine checking, in the limits of the Frere police station.

A former Rangers operative was among the 91 suspects arrested in targeted raids in different parts of the city on Sunday.


A former Rangers man was arrested during routine checking, in the limits of the Frere police station. Ghulam Abbas was arrested for possessing an illegal weapon, said Frere ASP Shehla Qureshi. She added that an FIR No. 184/14 under Section 23-A (1) was registered against him while further investigations are under way.


Separately, three suspects, who were later identified as Ibrahim, Muqaddar and Abdul Rahim, were arrested during a raid in North Karachi.


In another raid, two street criminals, identified as Munir Buledi and Allah Ditta Gopang, were arrested from Ahsanabad, District Malir.


Meanwhile, 85 suspects including four absconders, were apprehended by the police in targeted raids in various parts of District East.
