Another attempt: Drive against school vans in two weeks
The drive will be supervised by the Regional Transport Authority secretary and transport department’s team

The traffic police will launch a drive in two weeks against the school vans that violate the new rules, Sindh transport department secretary Taha Faruqui told The Express Tribune.
The drive will be supervised by the Regional Transport Authority secretary and transport department’s team along with the traffic police on roads during school times.
“We have given them [the school administrations] enough time in the [summer] vacations to regulate the school vans,” said Faruqui, adding that all vehicles with sub-standard gas cylinders will be dealt with an iron hand. “We can be lenient with regards to the yellow paint but no compromise will be made on substandard gas cylinders,” he said.
Traffic police DIG Abdul Khaliq Shaikh, in the aftermath of Gujrat school van incident in 2013, had issued directives that the school vans should carry a specific colour, fire extinguishers, emergency gates, and certified CNG cylinders, along with route permits and vehicle fitness certificates, following which a drive was announced to be launched on October 11, 2013.
