DERA GHAZI KHAN: Police on Friday beat up a 70-year-old woman, arrested her and then registered a case against her after she attempted suicide for not getting her way in a property dispute. Police also arrested a former naib tehsil nazim, Dilshad Shaheen, his son Sikandar Shaheen and Nadir Nadir for apparently inciting the woman to commit suicide. The woman, a resident of Ritra village in Taunsa tehsil, had filed a complaint last month against her brother Bagga, a former local government councilor, and six other men for occupying her house. On Friday, she tried to set herself on fire over police’s failure to arrest the accused. Police said that Dilshad Shaheen and his son Sikander Shaheen were arrested for inciting violence in the area.
