Pointing fingers: Islamabad blames Delhi for Gultri incident
Pakistan has accused Indian forces of resorting to unprovoked firing on the Line of Control (LoC). The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the firing took place in Gultri sector near Astore.
“Pakistani troops have effectively responded to the Indian firing,” the statement added. No loss of life or property has been reported.
The latest ceasefire violation took place a day after Pakistan summoned the Indian deputy high commissioner to protest against unprovoked Indian firing across the working boundary in Sialkot that killed one civilian and injured three others.
According to ISPR statement, 55 incidents of ceasefire violation by Indian troops have taken place since July.
Despite the 2003 ceasefire agreement, Pakistani and Indian forces have frequently exchanged fire and held each other responsible for the breach.
The intermittent skirmishes on the Line of Control (LoC) and working boundary had stalled the peace process between the two countries.
