Three Pakistan players reach round four
Tayyab, Bokhari, Israr progress in world junior squash championship.
KARACHI:
Three of four Pakistan squash players competing at the World Junior Individual Championships moved into the fourth round of the event being played in Windhoek, Namibia.
Tayyab Aslam, Ali Bokhari and Israr Ahmed progressed on Tuesday, while Asim Khan became the country’s first casualty.
Israr won 3-0 with relative ease against Colombia’s Dairo Sandoval, who barely put up any fight in the first frame as the Pakistan player walked away victorious with scores of 11-7, 11-4 and 11-4.
Current Asian Junior Champion Tayyab defeated England’s Patrick Rooney 3-1. The promising youngster won the first two games, but Rooney pulled one back to cut Tayyab’s lead to 2-1. Eventually, Tayyab went on to win with a scoreline of 11-6, 12-10, 10-12 and 11-8.
Bokhari thrashed Germany’s Lucas Wirths in straight sets by 11-7, 11-1 and 11-7, while Asim lost 3-1 to Egypt’s Mohamed El Gawarhy.
