CHARSADDA:

Lady health workers (LHW) in the district announced boycotting upcoming polio drives at a protest at Farooq Azam Chowk on Monday. The protesters chanted slogans against the government and blocked traffic.

LHW association’s provincial chairperson Saeeda Feroz addressed those gathered and said, “The government’s attitude towards our rights is discriminatory.”

Before every measles or polio drive, the government promises us regularisation and other rights, said Feroz. But these never happen and, “now our children are dying of hunger, compelling us to boycott the drives.”

Sameena Naeem, the association’s vice president, added, “We will not participate in any health department event.”
