Fit & Fabulous: How to clean your suedes
Follow these easy steps to keep your suedes in perfect condition for a longer period of time.
Increasing the longevity of your suede shoes is not a problem anymore. Follow these easy steps to keep your suedes in perfect condition for a longer period of time.
Firstly, always remember to keep your shoes dry and never use extreme abrasive pressure on them.
Brush away!
Start with gently removing dirt from the shoe using a suede cleaning brush. Always remember to brush in the direction of the material.
Water for water
Place a towel inside the shoes and spray a thin layer of water on their exterior followed by scrubbing the stain with a nail brush. WARNING: Do not leave them to dry in bright sunlight. This will cause the shoes’ colour to fade.
Vinegar to the rescue
Stubborn stains or food stains can be treated using white vinegar and a clean cloth.
Freeze it out
If gum or wax gets stuck to your shoes, freeze them for a few hours. The cold will cause the gum or wax to harden, after which it can be easily removed using a nail brush.
Dye or die
If the suede colour starts to fade, the suede shoe dye of the same colour can save the day.
