FAISALABAD:

City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Sohail Habib Tajik said on Sunday that women police officers had assigned security duties at political rallies featuring women.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the CPO said that 82 women constables, four women assistant sub inspectors and two women sub inspectors had been deployed for security duty at political meetings. “Men will assist the women police in providing security,” he said.

“No member of any political party, male or female, would be allowed to create public nuisance,” he said.

“If protesters try to disrupt the city’s peace, they will be dealt with an iron hand regardless of their political affiliation,” the CPO said.

The CPO also directed the police officers to remain on alert during the upcoming days to deal with any violent protest by political parties.

“Holding rallies and demonstrations in a peaceful manner is the right of all political parties. However, police will have to take action if such rallies become violent,” the CPO said.
