Protesting atrocities: One million JI activists to march to Islamabad for Gaza, says district ameer
Will demonstrate outside UN office in Islamabad, says Behrullah Khan.
PESHAWAR:
District ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Behrullah Khan claimed on Saturday that a million activists of the party would participate in the ‘Labaik Qibla-e-Awal’ March in Islamabad on Sunday (today) to protest atrocities in Gaza at the hands of Israel.
Addressing a news conference at JI’s district headquarters in Nishtarabad, Khan said they would protest on the call of party chief Sirajul Haq against “Israeli barbarism” and protest Zionist forces’ brutality against the unarmed and innocent people of Gaza.
Khan said two thousand innocent Palestinians including infants, women and children have been martyred so far. He also appreciated Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan for raising his voice against Israel and representing the Muslim countries’ sentiments over the conflict.
“The procession will start from Faizabad Chowk at 4pm and proceed to Aabpara Chowk at 6pm. It will then record its protest in front of the UN office,” said Khan. He added 500 vehicles have been confirmed to be a part of the procession while the rally in Peshawar would begin from Hashtnagri Chowk at 11am.
Khan said JI provincial ameer Professor Ibrahim, provincial general secretary Shabbir Ahmed Khan, K-P information secretary Advocate Israrullah, Minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan and Minister for Religious Affairs Habibur Rehman along with naib ameer Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and tribal activists will participate.
In Mardan district, JI leaders and workers will gather at College Chowk under the leadership of district ameer Sultan Mohmand.
