LAHORE:

Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) president Shafqat Mehmood Chohan on Wednesday said that former British minister Sayeeda Warsi will be invited to address the bar.

Chohan was addressing an LHCBA meeting held to express solidarity with the Palestinian people. He paid tribute to the ex-British minister on account of her courage in resigning her post to protest the British government’s pro-Israel policy.

He condemned Israeli aggression towards Palestinians and demanded that the Pakistan government chalk out a plan with the cooperation of all political parties to motivate the Muslim Ummah on the issue.

Chohan said that a joint convention of bars and traders’ community would be called to protest against war crimes committed by Israel.

LHCBA Secretary Muhammad Ahmad Chachar, Advocate Khalid Malik, Advocate Rashid Lodhi and Advocate Muhammad Aslam Zar addressed the participants. They said that 1,900 people had died as a result of indiscriminate bombing in the Gaza Strip and around 8,000 people were injured. The speakers said that the Israeli army had not only destroyed schools and hospitals but also killed infants. They condemned the silence of leaders of Muslim states on the matter and demanded that they adopt a comprehensive plan.

The speakers appreciated Sayeeda Warsi’s courage in raising her voice in support of the people of Palestine.

This will be good show of her true color as It will explain to the Britons that her loyalty to her country is only skin deep and her loyalty lies elsewhere that is not ideological.
