Fake degree case: ECP disqualifies PPP's Ghulam Qadir Chandio
Election Commission of Pakistan calls for re-elections in PS-27
KARACHI:
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified PPP MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio from the Sindh Assembly on Monday for holding a fake degree, Express News reported.
Declaring Chandio ineligible, ECP ordered re-elections in PS-27, Nawabshah.
Sindh United Party member Zainul Abedeen had challenged Chandio’s membership of the provincial assembly and had filed a petition in the ECP.
Further, Chandio will not be able to contest elections in the future. Possessing a graduate degree is no more a legal requirement for being elected to the national or provincial assembly. However, anyone found guilty of having forged a fake degree in the past will be unseated and barred from taking part in future elections.
