Scottish police have arrested two Indian officials who were in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games for alleged assault, according to Indian media reports on Sunday.
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) secretary general Rajeev Mehta was arrested over an alleged incident in Glasgow on Saturday, the Times Now network reported. Wrestling referee Virender Malik was also detained elsewhere in the Scottish city on Saturday for a separate case of assault, according to the network.
“It is expected both men will appear in Glasgow Sheriff Court tomorrow, Monday, the 4th of August,” said a Glasgow police spokeswoman, who declined to give details of the alleged incidents.
