Journey of progress: No long march can detract us, says Shahbaz

Says govt is given a heavy mandate to bring progress and development.

LAHORE:
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday said no long march or protest could create hurdles in the journey towards prosperity.

Talking to a delegation of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Youth Wing in Murree, he said the government is trying to steer the country out of the problems as it has been given a heavy mandate by the masses to put the country on the road to progress and development.

He said Pakistan did not need a long march that destroys national unity but needed a long march for progress and development. “The country will achieve its goal, the darkness will be removed and it will emerge as a strong economic power,” he added.

The CM said Pakistan was passing through the most critical phase of its history and Pakistan army was fighting against the enemies of peace. “There is a need for unity to overcome the problems being faced by the nation and every member of society should play his role in this regard,” he added.

He said the PML-N government is determined to steer the country out of the quagmire of problems and its efforts would bear fruit. “Pakistan will emerge as a haven of peace and will achieve the goal of development and prosperity.”

Shahbaz said Punjab government had completed mega projects costing billions of rupees for providing relief and basic facilities to the masses and for raising their living standards.

He said record funds of Rs345 billion were allocated for development schemes in the province in the current fiscal year and the implementation of annual development programme would usher in an era of progress and prosperity.
