KARACHI:

The police investigators have failed to trace the group behind the targeted attack on the police complaint camp in Liaquatabad that claimed two lives.

Unidentified armed men had attacked a police complaint camp located in Liaquatabad on Saturday. The firing killed ASI Muhammad Ali of the Police Qaumi Razakar while a female police constable, 28-year-old Kiran, wife of Omar Hayat was critically wounded. The body and the injured were moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and medical treatment where Kiran also succumbed to her injuries.

The deceased Kiran was posted to the Liaquatabad Woman police station for the past three years. She was a mother of two children and was a resident of Liaquatabad No. 5.

DSP Wajahat Hussain said that the culprits used a 0.22 pistol, which is normally not used in cases of target killings. Empty shells were recovered and sent to the forensic laboratory, he added. The funeral prayers of the deceased policemen were offered at the DIG West office. Later, Kiran was laid to rest at the FC Area graveyard while Ali was buried at the Muhammad Shah graveyard.

The police have registered an FIR No. 124/14 under section 302 and 7 ATA on behalf of the state against unidentified persons and initiated further investigations. DSP Hussain said that the motive and the group behind the incident have yet to be ascertained.
