PESHAWAR: Police has been facing problems in Chitral due to a number of reasons, said IGP Nasir Khan Durrani in a detailed report which he has sent to the chief minister. “Keeping in view the geo-strategic importance of the district and the agenda of anti-state elements in its surrounding areas, it is my opinion that there is an urgent need to address the most pressing issues in the district on priority basis,” said the inspector general. The police is not able to serve the public well as the number of personnel is insufficient, transportation services are not always available and there is lack of protection at border posts. There are not enough police stations and accommodation is inadequate, he added. The inspector general compiled the report in light of a two-day visit to Chitral, where he visited police lines and various police stations and interacted with elders from all parts of the district, including upper Chitral and Kalash Valley.
