KARACHI: An election tribunal in Karachi ordered re-election in PS-114 after the results were challenged by a defeated candidate, Express News reported on Friday.
Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) candidate Rauf Siddiqi had challenged the victory of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) Irfanullah Marwat.
Siddiqi had accused Marwat of rigging the elections held on May 11, 2013.
The Election Commission of Pakistan will announce the date for re-election. The PML-N candidate can challenge the tribunal's decision in a higher court.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had informed the election tribunal that 17,504 votes cast in the PS-114 were bogus as they were either cast by someone else or had invalid national identity card numbers.

PTI demanded by elections under army supervision and got the "Most Sharamnak Defeat", now MQM proved itself right by adopting legal way. There is no way a sane person can be suspicious of MQM's mandate.
PMLN has done really well in all provinces when it comes to rigging.

@salman: The election tribunals will make the decisions just like they have done in Karachi. Nowhere did the election tribunal say that PML(N) won that seat in Karachi due to rigging. It's ballot stuffing with bogus votes and who did it will become clear. We have all seen the videos of MQM touts ballot stuffing, smiling and giving victory signs. Prepoll rigging in the form of votes already stamped with Kite have also been seen. The Govt is not empowered to force the election tribunals to open 4 constituencies. Comprende ! @Malveros: What failed attempt? Attempts are still going on, we don't know if they have failed yet or not.
One thing that has failed is PMLN ability to convince anyone (except their loyalists) that they did not rig the elections. One question I have; if PMLN won so cleanly, why don't they agree to verification in those 4 constituencies? After all the results will only prove them right, no? The fact that they don't only goes to show that something is rotten.
@Aysha M: I am not a fan of PTI and neither support them but after a failed attempt in Punjab they will be coming to Sindh to open another pandora's box. That is when the real uncovering will start !

It's about time something new is concocted. MQM won all 4 seats in the August 22, by-elections, with Army in and outside the polling stations. The rigging allegation has no substance . MQM's electoral success in the past 9 elections cannot be attributed to rigging. It is simply not possible for any political party to rig elections consistently and get away with this
