UGRAD-Pakistan: 120 students to leave for study in US
This year’s group includes 52 students from Punjab, 28 from Sindh, 26 from K-P, 6 from Balochistan.
Around 120 Pakistani students will be travelling to the United States for their undergraduate studies this year. The students will be undertaking their studies on a scholarship under US government-funded Global Undergraduate (Global UGRAD) Program, said a press release.
The US Embassy’s Counsellor for Public Affairs, Angela Aggeler, while congratulating the students said, “We welcome more than 1,200 Pakistanis in the US each year on our many exchange programmes.”
The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) administers the programme.
A number of the students come from remote or economically disadvantaged areas of Pakistan, said Rita Akhtar, Executive Director of USEFP at a pre-departure orientation on Thursday.
Akhtar noted that this year’s group includes 52 students from Punjab, 28 from Sindh, 26 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 14 from Gilgit-Baltistan, six from Balochistan, five from AJK, six from Fata, and two from ICT.
