Punjab Assembly Member Khurram Gulfam passed away at Services Hospital on Tuesday.
He had been recently admitted to the hospital for a tumor removal. Officials from the hospital said that the operation had been successful but Gulfam slipped into a coma after the surgery.
He never regained consciousness after the operation. Gulfam had been kept at the intensive care unit of the Services Hospital for the past few days. Doctors said his patient’s brain had stopped functioning a few days ago.
Gulfam’s family accused the medical staff of negligence. The hospital administration denied the charge.
Gulfam was born in Sheikhupura on February 6, 1979.
He got his formative education from Aitchison College and went on to receive degrees from Government College University, the University of the Punjab and Pakistan College of Law. The deceased was a practicing lawyer and agriculturist. Gulfam had served as Muridke Naib Nazim during 2006-2007 before he was elected to the Punjab Assembly for two consecutive terms.
His father too had been a member of the Punjab Assembly.
