Violence round-up: Man killed ‘accidentally’ as security guard cleans gun

A total of three lives lost in the city on Saturday.

A man was killed when a guard, who was cleaning his gun, accidentally fired a shot.


Thirty-year-old Hidayatullah, son of Matiullah, was one of the three men who lost their lives in the city on Saturday.


According to Soldier Bazaar police, Hidayatullah had come to Karachi for an x-ray when he was hit by a bullet on MA Jinnah Road where a private security guard was cleaning his gun. The victim was rushed to Civil Hospital, Karachi, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Although the police ruled out target killing as a motive, they have detained the guard. Meanwhile, 24-year-old Zubair Ahmed, son of Shabbir Ahmed, was shot dead in Quaidabad within the limits of Shah Latif police station. He died on the spot and his body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy.

SHO Arshad Awan said the deceased was a resident of Federal B Area and was going somewhere in his car along with his friend, Najeeb, when he was killed under mysterious circumstances. The police have detained Najeeb as they suspect him of being involved in the murder and have initiated further investigations.

Similarly, a mobile shop owner was shot dead in an act of target killing near Korangi Crossing. The deceased was identified as Bilal Hussain, 25, son of Ghulam Hussain. Korangi Industrial Area police station SHO Tariq Raheem said Hussain was a resident of Khayaban-e-Ittehad, DHA, and was on his way home from his shop in Korangi when unidentified armed men shot and killed him.

The officer suspected that deceased might have been killed for resisting a robbery attempt. His body was taken to JPMC and was later handed over to his family after the autopsy. A case has been registered against unidentified persons.
