Specialised product: ‘Pakistani mangoes doing well abroad’

Bosan said the ban on Indian mangoes in Europe should be seen as a warning by Pakistani farmers.

Minister for Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Bosan on Monday said Pakistani mangoes were selling for good prices in Europe this year.


He was talking to newsmen after inaugurating Small Scale Hot Water Mango Treatment Unit, a machine locally made for effective control of fruit flies in mangoes.

He said simple hot water mango treatment machine was manufactured at a cost of Rs150,000 by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and Pakistan Research Council. He said the government would offer the machine to farmers on subsidised rates.

He said the European Union had banned Indian mangoes due to the fruit fly infestation.

He said the ban on Indian mangoes in Europe should be seen as a warning by Pakistani farmers.

Dont worry we ll export more in europe next season. This season middle east, asia and Canada only.
