IDP relief efforts: PIMS takes over hospital in Bannu

NDMA has so far distributed over Rs346 million among IDPs.

ISLAMABAD: The government on Monday gave the Islamabad-based PIMS hospital control over the Bannu district hospital.

PIMS and the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University have provided 65 staff members and 11 vehicles including two ambulances at the forward medical unit, a statement issued from the PM office said on Monday.

Mostly medical, surgical, pediatric, and psychiatry services are being provided to females in the hospital.

In addition, two mobile hospitals equipped with six beds, operation theaters, X-ray machines and a laboratory have been stationed in Bannu. These are being used as advance team in close collaboration with the Pakistan army.

The team sent by PIMS is treating more than 500 patients daily in OPD, emergency, gynecology, pediatrics. Professor Javed Akram has been made in-charge of this operation, the statement added.

NDMA distributes over Rs346 million among IDPs

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has so far distributed Rs346.152 million among the internally displaced persons of North Waziristan agency.

NDMA sources told Radio Pakistan that mobile SIMs have also been distributed among 42,000 IDPs to facilitate them to receive the financial aid.

Radio Pakistan reported that over 1,000 food packets have been distributed among the IDPs and medical treatment has also been provided to 395 persons.

The NDMA has also handed over 2,000 additional tents to Fata Disaster Management Authority. While the UNHCR has also distributed over 32,000 kits of non food items among IDPs.
