Justice served: Death penalty for murder convicts

Additional District and Sessions Judge Asim Mansoor on Thursday awarded death sentence to two people convicted of murder. Prosecution said Khizar Hayat’s first wife Razia Bibi had allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticides after her husband married a second time. According to prosecution, Razia’s brothers accused Hayat of murdering her and lodged an FIR against him. Later, the charges were dropped. Prosecution said On May 6, 2011, Razia’s brothers Muhammad Hashim and Muhammad Usman and their friends Safdar Hussain and Muhammad Ashfaq shot and killed Hayat. An FIR was registered against them accused at Makhdoom Rasheed police station. On Thursday, the judge awarded death sentence to Hashim and his Hussain and fined them Rs100,000 each. Usman and Ashfaq were acquitted.
