Crimes of passion: Man kills paramour, commits suicide

The girl was shot after she said no to his marriage proposal.

A man and woman died and another woman was injured in separate incidents on Wednesday. In Faisalabad, Rodala Road police said Ali Iqbal*, 30, had asked Mehar* Bibi to visit him in a field and asked her to marry him.


They said when the girl refused, he shot and killed her. He also shot himself, police said. Naeem Asad, Iqbal’s uncle, told newsmen that his nephew had been seeing Mehar, who a mother of two children. He said she had been divorced twice.

He said his nephew wanted to marry her but she did not share his feelings.

Rodala Road station house officer said the police had taken their bodies into custody.

In Multan, a man attacked his wife with a knife and cut her throat.

Police said 28-year-old Rabia had married 31-year-old Razaaq four years ago.

They said the couple had a two-year-old son.

Police said the couple argued over the time Rabia spent with her parents. They said she wanted to visit them daily but he wanted her to meet them once a month.

On Wednesday, the couple had argued over the issue and Razaaq attacked her with a knife and cut her throat.

She was taken to Nishtar Hospital where doctors later said her condition was stable.

Police said the man was arrested in a raid and had confessed to attacking his wife.

Police said he told them he had attacked her when she said she would not serve him breakfast until he allowed her to visit his parents.
