Justice served: Acid thrower sent to prison

She was taken to a hospital where doctors said her face had been burnt.

ATC Judge Ishtiaq Ahmad awarded 15 years and six months rigorous imprisonment a man convicted of attacking his sister-in-law with acid. The court also imposed a fine of Rs2 million.

Prosecution said Faisal Javaid on May 11 argued with his sister-in-law and then attacked her with acid. She was taken to a hospital where doctors said her face had been burnt. She was under treatment for a month. They said Javaid was arrested by Sargodha Road police a few weeks after the incident.
