LAHORE:

Lahore High Court on Monday adjourned the hearing of a petition challenging proceedings at an election tribunal on a plea by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan seeking recounting of votes in NA 122.

National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had filed the petition. He said the documents that Khan had submitted to the tribunal were not original and had been photocopied.

He said the tribunal could not hold proceedings unless original documents were provided to it. Justice Ijazul Ahsan had already stayed the tribunal’s proceedings.

On Monday, the counsel for PTI chief sought a week to submit a reply. The judge turned down the request and told the lawyer to continue arguments on Tuesday.
