BAHAWALPUR: A man shot and injured another, allegedly for marrying his sister without the consent of her family.

Sajjad Ahmad, a resident of Qayampur, married Bakhtawar without the approval of her family six years ago. Later, both the families acknowledged the marriage. However, Bakhtawar’s brother, Adnan, bore Ahmad a grudge. He shot and injured Ahmad on July 3.

Mukhtar Ahmad, brother of the injured man, told journalists on Monday that Adnan and his friends Muhammad Rasheed and Muhammad Nadeem had visited their house on July 3 and took Ahmad with them on a motorcycle.

“They took him to Shahpur where another five of Adnan’s friends were also present. They shot Ahmad in the neck, legs and arms,” Mukhtar said. He said Ahmad was taken to Bahawal Victoria Hospital.

Qayampur police have registered a complaint.
