ISLAMABAD: Authorities have imposed fines worth Rs740,000 on shopkeepers throughout the city for overcharging customers and not displaying rate lists during Ramazan. Industrial Area Assistant Commissioner Nouman Yousaf said 22 price control committees headed by magistrates are working in the capital city and its rural areas. To ensure the quality of food items being sold in Ramazan bazaars and the open market is maintained, the committees have sent 100 samples to a laboratory for examination. He said cases will be registered against violators while the committees are also issuing rate lists to shopkeepers. “The administration will ensure implementation of rate lists and no one will be allowed to indulge in overcharging and profiteering,” said Yousaf.
