Gunned down: Two men killed in separate incidents

Two people, including a suspected Lyari gang member, were killed in separate incidents on Thursday.


An alleged gang member of Lyari’s Sheraz Comrade Group, Salman Durrani alias Dada, was shot dead in an alleged encounter with the police and Rangers near City Railway Colony. The law enforcement agencies recovered a Kalashnikov from his possession. The body was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi.

According to SHO Mithadar Tariq Baig, the police received information about gangsters present in the area and rushed to the site. The gang members opened fire at the law enforcers who had to fire back in retaliation in which Durrani was killed and two of his accomplices escaped. The deceased was a resident of Lyari’s Kumharwara area and was allegedly involved in several murder, kidnapping and extortion cases.

Separately, Muhammad Naeem, 30, was killed by unidentified motorcyclists in Rahim Shah Colony, Orangi Town Sector 11-L on Thursday. According to SHO Shahzad, the deceased was involved in drug dealing and had been to jail several times.
