SWAT: More than 500 students of the University of Swat were reimbursed their tuition fee under the Prime Minister’s Fee Reimbursement Scheme, at the university’s Odigram campus on Thursday.

University of Swat Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan distributed a total of 549 cheques, worth Rs10 million, among students from different departments. This was the first phase of the scheme.

Professor Khan extended his gratitude to PM Nawaz Sharif and the chairperson of the reimbursement scheme, Maryam Nawaz, for considering the University of Swat for the cause.

He congratulated the students who received the reimbursement and hoped they would use it as scholarship money to pursue higher education. Professor Khan said the university also used its own resources to aid deserving students.

Recently, Rs1.6 million was given in merit scholarships and Rs1.8 million was given under their financial aid programme. He added that the administration was working towards generating more scholarships from private enterprises, especially banks.
