ISLAMABAD:
A Foreign Office official has disclosed that an Afghan military delegation will be arriving in Pakistan tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss security-related issues with their Pakistani counterparts.

At a media briefing in Islamabad, the official said that the meeting is taking place to allay concerns of both sides. The briefing was held as a follow up on Afghanistan’s National Security Adviser Dr Rangin Dadfar Spanta’s visit to Pakistan.

It was also disclosed that the Afghan and Pakistani officials would visit the Pak-Afghan border to assess the situation.

Spanta’s visit to Pakistan followed PM Nawaz’s special envoy Mehmood Khan Achakzai’s visit to in Kabul earlier this month. During Achakzai’s visit, he had sought Kabul’s cooperation to tighten security along the border in order to stop militants from fleeing and entering Afghanistan.
