Poisonous liquor claims 14 lives in separate incidents

MIRPUR/ KAHUTA: In two separate incidents across the country, 14 people lost their lives after consuming toxic liquor, while four others are still in critical condition, Express News reported on Sunday.

The first incident took place in Kahuta, where 12 people fell sick after consuming poisonous liqour. They were taken to a local hospital for medical assistance, where eight of them passed away, while the others remain in critical condition.

According to the police, the deceased were identified as Asif, Ayaz, Naseem, Tasleem, Sheraz, Kamran, Gul Siraj and Waseem.

Separately, in the Mirpur area of Azad Kashmir, six people died after consuming toxic liquor. They were identified as Dildar, Abid, Farooq, Khalid and Kaalan.

Why is it that news of people dying from poisonous alcohol is usually reported in the month of Ramzan? Just out of curiosity.
