Sustainable: DHA City Karachi wins global award

Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure is internationally recognised for scoring a sustainability rating system.

KARACHI:
DHA City Karachi (DKC) has been conferred an international award for being Pakistan’s first sustainable city during a prestigious ceremony in Washington. Project director Brigadier (R) Muhammad Rafiq received the award. The Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure has been internationally recognised for scoring and maintain a sustainability rating system for all the cities of the world. Speaking on the occasion, the Institute Chief Executive, William Barterra said that for the first time in Pakistan a reliable and sustainable city has been planned. “The sustainability and quality of the project is exemplary.” He lauded the efforts of Pakistani engineers and planners for concluding the task within a short time. He said DCK has become a standard model which should be followed in other cities around the world. The project director pointed out that this project would be the beginning of a long collaboration between DCK and the Institute.
