One-year-old child, identified as Murad, is reportedly the latest victim of the crippling virus. The child is a resident of Landhi.
Up till now 65 cases have been reported from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), 12 from Khyber-Paktunkhwa (K-P) and now seven from Sindh.
Pakistan is one of only three countries in the world where polio is still endemic but efforts to stamp out the crippling disease have been hit by repeated attacks on health teams.
Gunmen have frequently attacked polio vaccination workers, accusing them of being Western spies and part of a plot to sterilise Muslims.
A global eradication campaign has reduced polio cases by 99.9 per cent in the last three decades, but it remains endemic in Nigeria, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The disease is highly infectious and can cause irreversible paralysis.

Can't we make polio vaccination mandatory on people entering Karachi from FATA/KP?
I think PTI & IK is responsible. KPK government is responsible. They have been in power for decades !
Paks have been seeking UN intervention for a long time. For the safety and rehab of countries that are considered part of Pakistan, UN should take over this region.
Err...ET, it is 'polio' case not 'police' case as has been mentioned in the first line.

Remember polio surveillance is not 100% and many cases go unreported. Vaccination against polio is defective most of the time as the oral drops are subjective and depend on many factors for effect. Cold chain is imperfect, technical staff is limited and population movement is problematic. If Polio is not dealt efficiently, it is going to save no one's child in this country.

It's very sad to see children suffering because of ignorance of parents and extremists. Also government is hiding the actual number of cases. In kya ri itself there have been 10s of cases where I'm living. At least 100 cases must be there in Karachi itself. So you can imagine the number of cases in tribal areas where media is not allowed.
Fake case to degrade Pakistan, they report it like that no child can be born abnormal, look at how many are born abnormal in the US and UK go and look at their special child centers.They just want to disgrace Muslim countries and OUR MEDIA IS HELPING THEM.
