PM Gilani lauds passage of 18th amendment

ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani termed the passage of the 18th Amendment Bill in Parliament, a historic success on Friday.

Speaking to a group of Constitutional Reforms Committee members and parliamentarians at a dinner he had hosted, Gilani congratulated both Houses for ensuring the bill was passed. He added that their approval reflected the wishes of the Pakistani people.


President Asif Ali Zardari was also in attendance, and speaking to participants, said that "democracy is the best revenge", and that the government is not looking for revenge.

The Prime Minister added that after the bill is introduced, the work of the federal government will become much harder, as they will be answerable to both houses of parliament.
