RAWALPINDI:

Two children were killed and four others injured after a house collapsed due to gushing wind and heavy rain late on Tuesday.

The house in the Civil Lines area was being rented by Bakht Noor, a resident of Thali Mohri, Rawalpindi.

“I heard a loud noise when the house collapsed — I rushed outside my house and saw rubble and dust. I immediately called Rescue 1122 and the local police,” said Ramzan Khan, a neighbour.

He said he started shouting for help and a large number of people gathered to rescue the stranded people. All of the victims were unconscious and in critical condition. Rescue 1122 workers later reached the location and rescued the survivors.

A rescue official said Khan Zaman, 13, and a newborn child were taken to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ), where doctors pronounced them dead.

The injured were identified as Bakht Noor, 40, Maria, 18, and Sher Khan.

Maria and Khan Muttahir were shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital. Both are in stable condition.
