Model Town mayhem: PTI vows to protest govt’s ‘apathy’

Rashid said people had been shot at point-blank range “on the orders of Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah.

LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Punjab General Secretary Yasmin Rashid said on Tuesday the government had done nothing to arrest those who had killed 14 people during clashes in Model Town on June 17.

Addressing party workers, Rashid said people had been shot at point-blank range “on the orders of Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah”. “The chief minister has refused to take responsibility and resign. Sanaullah has been removed from the office but not arrested.” She said the PTI would stage a demonstration on Wednesday (today) demanding that the government provide justice to the victims’ families.

PTI’s Andleeb Abbas said the one-man judicial commission formed by the government to probe the June 17 incident was led by a “junior” judge.
