Staying alert: Anti-hijacking drill conducted at Bacha Khan International Airport
Peshawar airport has been targeted several times from the adjoining militancy-hit Khyber Agency.

Keeping in view the constant threat of a possible militant assault and the recent attack on Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) conducted anti-hijacking drills at Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA).
According to a statement issued by the CAA on Tuesday, aside from the Airport Security Force, other law-enforcement agencies also participated in the exercise in order to practice the standard operating procedures set for all agencies deployed in and around the airport.
“Being a requirement, such exercises are conducted after specific intervals,” the CAA statement read.
Peshawar airport has been targeted several times from the adjoining militancy-hit Khyber Agency. Militants regularly fire rockets from the agency which mostly land on the runway or areas around the airport.
On December 15, 2012, at least three people, including a police officer, were killed and 46 others were injured in rocket attacks on BKIA and subsequent exchange of fire between security forces and militants on Old Bara Road.
