Caught at last: Prisoners recaptured from Malir jail

The spokesperson of Sindh Prisons IG has said that all three prisoners have been recaptured from Malir Jail. He said this while giving a clarification regarding the news that appeared in print media about the jailbreak in Malir District Prison.


He said that on June 17 at around 2.50am, some inmates of Malir District Prison attempted to escape but they were fired upon by the Frontier Constabulary guards from the watch tower. One prisoner was recovered and remaining two escaped. However, both of them were traced by the prison administration on the same day. They were found hidden in the prison premises.


Six officers of Malir District Prison have been suspended and an inquiry committee has been formed by the Sindh home ministry.


The officers suspended are deputy superintendent Muhammad Hassan Sahto, assistant superintendent Kamran Sammand, assistant superintendent Ishtiaque Awan, head constable Ghulam Sarwar and constables Sohbat Ali and Abid Ali.
