Eliminating polio: Campaign concludes in Kurram Agency

Mehsud said 120,000 children were vaccinated in the agency and appreciated the extensive cooperation of army.

PESHAWAR: A three-day vaccination campaign in Kurram Agency concluded on Monday after 120,000 children were given oral polio drops. Kurram Agency Political Agent Riaz Khan Mehsud told journalists in Parachinar, the agency’s headquarters, that the three-day special campaign was completed with a special focus to inoculate children of the agency under strict security arrangements by khasadar officials and security forces. Mehsud said 120,000 children were vaccinated in the agency and appreciated the extensive cooperation of army, and other law enforcement agencies in providing security to polio workers. He said parents and guardians of children also extended full support to health officials during the campaign and no refusal case was reported. He said no polio case has been reported from Kurram Agency during the last two years. During the campaign, he said 492 teams, including 22 transit teams, went door to door in 32 union councils.
