Healthcare commission: PMA says appointment violated rules

President PMA said an emergency meeting of the PMA had been called on June 22 to decide a future strategy.

LAHORE: Dr Ajmal, a bureaucrat, has been appointed chief operating officer of the Healthcare Commission in violation of the Healthcare Commission Act 2010, the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) said on Sunday. PMA Punjab president Ashraf Nizami told a press conference the meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee was convened only once in two years, that too, without inviting any of the 10 members or the convener. He said Ajmal was principal and owner of a private hospital and could not be appointed to the commission. He said an emergency meeting of the PMA had been called on June 22 to decide a future strategy.
