After his speech in the National Assembly, Imran Khan says the government should have taken all stakeholders into confidence over the decision of the army operation, Express News reports. He added that the government should have provided them with details of the operation.http://tribune.com.pk/story/722202/army-launches-operation-in-north-waziristan/#comments Well said Imran Khan. These military operations taken at the behest of America is very sad. Drone attacks killing civilians are continuing. Why should America be allowed a free hand in interfering in internal affairs of Pakistan. We should not say Go Nawaz Go. We should say Go America Go.
We are with Pakistan Army and only best online coverage by tribune. Pak Zindabad -Asma
More power to our troops to eliminate the terrorists from our soil.
If they kill 3 of ours.......we must kill 23 of them. That's the language they understand. Well done Pakistan Army.
"If required, army ready to expand operation into remote areas, says Bajwa" But please make sure that the operation is focused and uninvolved citizens do not get killed. Kindly also make sure that fewer, if any at all, IDPs are created. Thank you.
We are consuming very huge budget in this operation and also our soldiers presenting their lives for country. but question is this where was our intelligence and army force when these terrorist groups were in development stage? they should be finished at their initial stages.
I am a bit dumbfounded!!!! Whenever there was a drone strike against the militants, there always were reports of civilian deaths. But with the airforce strikes there seem to be only militant casualties?
According to various polls the Pakistani Nation has rejected terrorism in all its forms. We also know that the terrorists are on the run. The ongoing operations in Northern Pakistan have definitely decreased the degree of violence against civilians, yet we still see IED attacks like the one that happened yesterday on a school van, killing two students and three teachers. The complete elimination can only be achieved with continued attacks on enemy positions like the one today.
Former CIA director Michael Hayden has hailed Pakistan's ongoing operation, Zarb-i-Azb, and voiced confidence that the country would ride out multiple problems. Hayden also said the United States should help Pakistan in bringing development to terrorism-afflicted areas. “When I was in government, we tried to build economic opportunity zones in the tribal region with the Pakistani government, those are the kinds of things, and we need to do. We need to change conditions on the ground to give the people in the tribal region economic opportunity,” he told APP, after a discussion organized at the annual convention of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent in North America.
Abdul Quddus DET – U.S. Central Command
Pakistan has a superb air force.Over 100 militants have been taken out without a single civilian casualty. At this rate there will be no more militants left by the end of the year.Who needs drones with collateral damage when the air force is doing such a marvelous job.
@Realist: "The Chief himself was instrumental in writing our COIN doctrine..."
No sir. He was given instructions, plans, and a draft...prepared for him by CentCom. He simply complied as told and put his name on it.
We are in this mess because of the miscalculations of ISAF (who relied on intelligence from Northern Alliance and India - who had their own agenda).
The US should immediately provide Pakistan with F16s, Helicopters and MRAP's so we can bring this Indian/Afghan backed terror/criminals to an end. Why we dont have this support already beggers belief.
There should also be a fund (independently monitored and spent, perhaps by the private sector) to rehab FATA, build infrastructure and fully integrate into Pakistan.
Well done pak army. After you get rid of talibans please get rid other terror groups.
What little news that is reported on this Offensive gets lost in a lousy reporting format - time to revert back to normal format.
Pakhtoons are being killed so that Punjabis and Sindhis can feel secure in their houses. Pakhtoons are without roof on their head while Punjabis and Sindhis are sleeping in their houses. Pakhtoons are fighting for survival while Punjabis and Sindhis are busy with their dirty politics. Baccha Khan was right when he complained to Gandhi that why were they being left to wolves.
I would like to congrats highly professional armed force of Pakistan, Pakistan Army, on their successful Operation Zarb-e-Azb. I feel proud of General Raheel Sharif as Chief of the Army Staff. Long live Pakistan, Long Live Pakistan Army and of course Long live Pakistan's HERO General Raheel Sharif. Almighty God Bless you always.
But they can relocate to some other areas and we are and will be facilitating their relocation.
It is really appreciable to have this operation against these terrorists. This operation should be carried out in all parts of country and destroy all hideouts. Bravo! Bravo! Pak Army.
It needs a full and free media team search whether this was an operation against militants or only killed innocent, destroyed their homes and pushed them to be IDPs in camps.
Why do you put the drone attack story in this Zarb-E-Azb update page. We should know that drones are not a part of Zarb-e-Azb and as a Pakistani we must condemn these attacks as they are attacks on Pakistani Soil from outside powers.
I dont want to go into details but bottomline "Drones are not a part Operation Zarb-e-Azb".
How interesting, Drone strikes are now become part of Zarb-e-Azb......!
Well, Charlie Wilson's Was is good movie to watch.
Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clearing the FATA is necessary...........but clearing the incubation nests such as Lal Masjid and militant madrasahs is ABSOLUTELY necessary.
@someone: India is occupying Kashmir in contravention of UN Resolutions.
Its 700,000 troops there have been accused of gross human rights violations, murder, rape, gang rape, torture to name a few. India as an (illegal) occupying power, faces legitimate resistance (this is not excusing the attacks against civilians or hindu pundits by the way, those are deplorable).
The TTP are Indian and Afghan backed agents who commit terror attacks to order for money.
There is no comparison.
coward army chief is celebrating eid in bannu, why isn't he in the conflict zone of north Waziristan including the recently liberated miranshah since operation zarb-punjabi-peshab is meant to be such a success
@Last Word: Our army can be fully trusted and every Pakistani does that. Some generals may have let us down by imposing military rules or doing adventures like Kargil but do you not see the way Talibans slaughtered them, played football with the martyrs' heads and their morale is high as ever. While we are celeberating Eid in comofort of our homes they are fighting for us without caring about their lives. I admit this action is delayed but now that it is being carried out, Afghanistan and Nato forces also need to ensure they crack down the terrorists who have fled for Afghanistan.
I request you to not say killed, they are 'Shaheeds'
"According to ISPR, six soldiers were killed while three others were injured in an IED explosion near Ghulam Khan town near Afghan border in North Waziristan tribal region
we should write "embrace shahadat" instead of word "killed" for Pakistani soldiers.
Pakistan killing innocent civilians in waziristan and crying for deaths in Gaza.
Exactly like the Americans. First bomb the whole area to stone age and then start the relief projects. What a shame on our army leadership and the people supporting them.
@Wearewerewolfs: What a stupid comment 1st of all we are all Pakistanies not punjabi or pahktoons. i am a pakhtoon but have lived in punjab. half of Pakistani army are pahktoons
Do not try to divide us.
More power to our troops. Your hard work and sacrifices won't go in vain. All reasonable Pakistanis support you. You are our last hope to peace.
Godspeed.
Khawaja sahib, our armed forces are doing a great job, please hold the momentum and take this fight to these criminals inside the country - purge is the only way to cleanse this menace. For once let's leave the politics out of this, enough sacrifice has been made by innocent Pakistanis while politicians have tried to talk sense into each other and them.
Shouldn't our intelligence and security agencies have known this many years ago that the command and control centers of terrorism exist mainly in North Waziristan. It is criminal to have let them fester for so long and lead to the deaths of tens of thousands of Pakistanis which could have been prevented.
Wow! Look at the picture: for the first time, NS is looking as if he were really made of prime-ministerial material!
Chief has a perfect salute. Love it.
Not sure why the PM goes to GHQ to get the update. Ideally the reverse should happen
Israel is following the same strategy with Gazans what Pakistan military did with waziris!! The Prime Minster should stop playing Presidential, the chief of staff reports to the Defense minister and not to the Prime Minister and his cabinet..

Nawaz uses the opportunity to square up with the military on the agitation that is underway in the country.
Don't use "killed" for our fallen soldiers. Use the term "martyred."
@Jamal: Namaste, You Indian right?
ET please mind your language. Our soldiers are martyrs.
Pakistan is near success. And we will be safe from terrorism Insha Allah.

The picture of a female Child feeding another child is heartening.. May god bless both of them..
The month of Ramazan demands secrifice of believers, they must offer their blood this time to their neighbours, be it in waziristan or Gaza or in the land of Karbala and Damascus: Pakistan army has the advantage versus others, its carnage has the support of the American administration as well the new Indian administration!!
Rex Minor
I have not counted all the armchair warriors wanting somebody else to go in and and kill the termites for them, but there seems to be a lot. I wonder also who does the counting of so called dead militants, and how they determine that they were militants even when they are only half a metre tall? Carry on all you brave lads. You are ensuring Pakistan will have problems for another 60 years or so, just like in Kashmir...
The current military junta will not receive any refuge in the medics quarters nor from the security personnel who are growing beards demostrting symbolicly that they are the believers as well, and those who use violence against other believers are the outcaste and have nothing to look for in the world of Islam. This is what is certified in the scriptures and this is what will transpire! God alone has all the knowledge.

Over sic lac IDPs, bombed Bazars, if this is what a small war can bring, think of large scale war which many Mullahs and people like Zaid Hamid talk between India and Pakistan. I really feel sorry for the people of Miranshah. It will take very long to recover from the effects of this war. Sad part is that nobody outside Pakistan is taking notice of these sufferings. World media is almost silent and talking only of Gaza. Destruction in Miranshah is far more wider than in Gaza.
I love Pakistan Army and Iove my country. Carry on Pak Army. God is with you because you are doing very pious work. You are helping the human beings to live in peace.
"Hafiz Gul Bahadur will be immediately eliminated if spotted..." Nothing like handing out a press release like this to nab a terrorist. I am sure Hafiz will be shaking all over and waiting for the military to take him out. Only a 2 year old will buy this.
@Had enough: Thank Pakistan Army, World Food Program, UAE Government and other NGOs as well for provided food and daily commodity items to the IDPs.
Does the latest photo of erased dwellings look different than what the Isralie army is doing in Gaza?

Thank you USAID for donating food to our IDPs
ET, be kind enough to send this message of hope to the angel social worker.
@Syeda Faryal Zehra:
Madam, You have a military Government in the entire KPK nor a Nation of mussalmans! The army is made up of Kaffirs, the fortune soldiers on the payroll of foreigners are involved in the operation. Remember there are as many if not more IDP's in Afghan cities across the border. There will be private donations from outside Pakistan, even if half of it reaches the needy ones in this holy month of Ramazan, the sufferings could be lindered. God bless you and reward you for your efforts.
Rex Minor
With such a high cost of human suffering already being paid by the poor people of NW, you can only hope that the establishment is serious about eliminating terrorism this time and not merely playing the Good-Taliban Bad-Taliban game. There may not be another opportunity like this ever for Pakistan.
We'll done Pakistan armed forces..........please rid the country off this menace not only in NW but from each and every corner of the country.
@Fawad: I never said the landrovers of pak army is Made in India. I just said that the company and the brand is now owned by Indian company Tata Motors.
Not a single Indian has commented here against the Pak military operation against the TTP. Yet i read the comments by the pakistanis that india is funding, arming, training the TTP. But the indians here do not reflect that mindset. Instead of blindly blaming indians which indeed has no takers, its an opportunity for the two nations to join hands against terrorism in all forms. For once I certainly wish Pak Army success in its endeavours against the terrorists.
What a country !!! No peace in your country, no peace with your neighbours let a lone the world. I hope you guys open your eyes and see you have adopted a foreign culture and faith that had nothing to do with what is for the people of Bharat and you deny your roots. You are falling on your own sword :).

Thank you so much for giving up ypur today for our tomorrow.
I am so proud of our men and women in the forces.

AoA, Al Hamd Ul ALLAH #ZarbEAzb on its fastest track. May live long Pak Armed Forces. But just think about a lot of IDPs who are still suffering in IDPs camps. As I am working here as a social worker and can feel there pain easily. We've a lot of problems to set our sisters and children as they're in a huge psychological pressure. The rashin is not in sufficient quantity nor enough more than a week for an average type of families. Worthless medical assistance. And Ugly places to live. A lot of issues and damn low efforts by the both govt & nation. Its time to make a wake-up call to everyone if not then it would be too late. Regards Farayal Member of Team Ashiyana Ashiyana Camp Bannu
the only crime that does not require judicial process to kill perpetrators is terrorism
Pakistan govt has asked Afghanistan to target Fazlullah and others but the latter too has put conditions that Haqqanis, Guls, Punjabi Taliban must be targeted before it complies with Pakistan's request. Despite several statements made by the military and NS, no action has been taken against them so far and for that matter the big brother US shall be verifying Pakistan's claim with its surveillance satellites before asking Afghanistan to comply.
@Hedgefunder:
these terrorists are not and never were "strategic assets" so not sure where youre coming from with an empty statement like that
Prove it for once.
Pakistan has suffered enough due to the terrorists who have killed over 50,000 people. The offensive against the terrorists have not only destroyed their sanctuaries and training facilities but also the abilities to manufacture and place IED. We support the Pakistani government’s efforts to clean out the region of all terrorists and welcome the Pakistani Prime Minter’s stance to clear-out all terrorists and their sanctuaries. We stand united with Pakistani people and forces in their quest for sustained peace in the region.

If US can eliminate target in Pak and gives great favor to whole world, why not Pak do same in Afg?
Indians support Pak military in this very late but righteous move ! Finish them with no mercy!
@Shridhar:
Agree with you. Pakistan's neighboring countries should stop providing funds, training, and ammunition to these groups. It is unfortunate that the main brains behind militancy in Pakistan are sitting across the border.
By killing foot soldiers of Taliban, Pakistan is not going to succeed in their efforts to eradicate militancy. Main target should be the financiers, trainers and leaders who are main brain behind the organizations. As long as there are poor jobless youths are available in the society these killed foot soldiers gets replaced easily.
@samina: They call this act'land grab',. If your army would be only 10% performer oriented than you can be sure that this time will not show the white flag? One hopes that this time they will not let you down and their chief will not seek medics help.

Dance of death. Is there any news about who are being killed actually? I hope they are not Baluchs or Pakhtuns.
ZInda Bad Pak Army, Keep it up and wipe out all terrorist from NWA and make these areas an integral part of the country to ensure the writ of the state their.
Dont arrest! Kill them on the spot!
Pakistan is lucky that it has the professional Army Chief this time. The way he is boosting the moral of the army is highly appreciated. Judiciary now take courage and award death penalty to arrested terrorists and order to hand them publicly.
Keep on bombarding on these beast(TTP), they deserve it, for the restoration of peace in our country complete elimination of TTP and its allied groups is necessary.
Keep Up the Good Work.

Why everything has to be announced? media should not print everything coming out of ispr
Fantastic. There will be no room for the terrorists to hide InshAllah. Where are there supportive mullahs and IK now who were saying operation will back fire? They should go and help their fellows.
our brave Army men will crush the enemies of our land with the help of Allah. Our prayers and wishes are with you. Pakistan Army Zindabad.
The whole nation specially youth are with our Pak Armed Forces.... then what are you waiting for jawans ???? Just kill and clean the area you are fighting for saving us from those evils, frankly you are real Hero Jawans, and I am also thankful for the Government and its leadership for supporting COAS suggestion for operation, INSHALLAH as usual, we be succeed (Amen)
Our prayers are with the Pak Army for the success and making the country a land of the pure. I can see the 1965 Jazba in the nation except of some selfish politicians.
PM's visit to IDP Camps shows the seriousness of the Government in handling IDPs. Other political parties should back Government on this issue rather than Dharnas etc.
Look at the year of make of the army vehicles. just two observations. 1. the vehicles are old, 1995 make, 20 years vintage, good luck with their maintenance in difficult terrain. 2. land rower is an Indian company. What if they refuse spare parts.
They shouldnt be announcing upcoming plans =/
Gives the barbarians chances to escape in time...
A countrywide cleansing of terrorists is also essential otherwise they will remain hidden through the operation and then start their activities again
I earnestly hope and believe that this operation has been undertaken in all its seriousness and it will end the menace of terrorists groups not only in NW but will cover other parts of Pakistan (all provinces) to root out this serious threat to the security and stability of Pakistan.
@The Failed Rebel: This will not fail if we: Have an effective country wide system of justice Have a referndum in FATA and make it a province of part of KPK Overhaul the Police Force (like PTI is doing in KPK) Deweaponise ALL of Pakistan (no execpytion fro FATA of Karachi) Secure our borders - remove all illegal aliens, identify and cancle all illegally obtained Pak ID cards and passports Heavily invest in education, and employment Have rigging free elections
look at those poor IDP's I am so angry with the foreign funded TTP savages And then tehy kill a woman on a plane I wish Pak Army ALL success - the country is fully behind you Then we need to have complete contry wide de weaponisation and repatriation of all illegal immigrants
Good decision o hit all terrorists especially Haqqani network who are constantly attacking Afghan and ISAF forces. This will help Afghanistan co=operate more fully with this fight against disturbers of peace in the region.Any partial and partisan action is only going to fail the effort.
Pakistan Armed forces are doing extremely well. All our prayers and good wishes are with them. We salute your sacrifices. Please continue to eliminate these terrorists regardless of any type until they are finished. Pakistan Army Zindabad.
Well done Pak Army. This is the way we should eliminate all those terrorists. Please make sure the general population is evacuated, we need to strictly check all those being evacuated and doubtful persons should be kept in special facility, to be only released after careful evaluation. Once this process is completed, all the terrorists and their hideouts and their ammunition should be wiped out from FATA forever. Pakistan Zindabad!
Nawaz even doing politics on IDP matter, he is PM and should visit himself, He should have the courage and guts to face his people and not hide behind Imran Khan
Nawaz even doing politics on IDP matter, he is PM and should visit himself, He should have the courage and guts to face his people and not hide behind Imran Khan
We support Pakistani Army (and not dictatorship). Who ever is against our Army is against Pakistan.
They are protecting us and if you have any problem with them then you should find an exit from Pakistan!!
PM Nawaz Sharif please don't go to the IDP's camps because your visit shall create more problems and difficulties for them on the name of your security because IDPs belong to TTP's controlled area and you visit shall also be the cause of heavy burden on the national treasure because millions of Rupees will be spent on your visit to IDP's camps as has been spent on your Awaran Balochistan's one single visit.......
NS if your are serious you can make it on another day but if you are just making an offer for point scoring then its okay for you as it will serve your purpose.
Any corroborating evidence that all these numbers of militants killed is actually a fact? Or is it a full-uniform exercise to please the West which is pretty angry at Pakistan since that May 2nd? I hope this time there is no play acting. There may not be too many chances left.
Month of Ramadan is on its way, Govt and Pvt institutions should make relief centers on every city and corners so that people of Pakistan can easily participate of what ever they have. Almost 10 days have gone and we dont see any relief centers on signals or else where in the major cities. Immediate action should be taken by Govt/ Political parties/ NGO's etc in order to show their presence around the city. IDP's are in desperate help and Army is playing an amazing role in handling those IDP's but we as citizen of Pakistan should effectively start helping them by all means.
I hope our army is not affected by polio virus.
Hmmm good to see Pak's show of strength against the militants . Pak's image has become positive with this act.
We stand by the nation of Pakistan in their quest for peace. It is our wish and desire to see peace prevail throughout the region, especially Pakistan. The threat of terrorism had loomed over the nation for over a decade, and we echo what Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, said: "The Pakistan military and the government understand the threat, and they continue to go after that threat." We commend the government of Pakistan during these testing times and have full confidence in their ability to bring the situation under control. We also send our condolences to the friends and families of all those brave soldiers who have lost their lives in securing the nation.

IDP's have to ensure they never rent their homes out to foreign backed terrorists again for lots of US dollars.
Yes they need to be fed, but we need to also ensure they do not give shelter to people who kill Pakistanis that are currently feeding them and donating their wages for the same
WFP begins distributing aid to IDPs in Bannu...
Why does the nation with the best strategic location of the world, the best islamic nationa nd world's nuclear power need assistance from United Nations's food program for its own IDPs or when flood hits or earthquake or any calamity. Whose army keeps claiming to give lecture on it befitting reply to any country none sense. Can't you even handle and feed your own IDPs due to your own bombing of your country?
Army's sacrifices are appreciated. They must keep in mind there are no good Talibans so operation should be across the board and eliminate them for ever. May Allah bring peace in this country and protect our motherland.
Only the State can declare jihad not the muftis, period.
2nd attempt to reply. ET mod. have the courage. @The Failed Rebel: O'h, make no mistake Sir, and under estimate the power of the creator of universe, I can see the angels of doom in the offing and hoovering over the skies of Pakistan; a disaster awaits the country and its capital and the Sharifs and their followers will find no place for refuge or hide from what awaits them. This is what the scriptures say and this is what will transpire.
Rex Minor
One week into this "offensive" and the only news is a couple of airstrikes and lots of refugees. You either have lousy news coverage or this isn't much of an "offensive" - maybe both. Further - one week into "eliminate all terrorist" and no action against Quetta Shura or Haqqani - maybe a good indicator that Pakistan hasn't changed it's policy of classifying certain terrorist as friends.
Good step to dispense Polio vaccine when so many are assembling together and out of influence of those against Polio vaccine.
@Rex Minor: Which is exactly why I, the so called TTP apologist, was opposing the operation? Who will rehabilitate these people who have been forced to leave their homes, will army or the government tend to them or will they honour their promises? The truth is this Sharif government just like its predecessor has no sympathy for the weak and the displaced. I maintain, that the "Do More" crowd would be chanting very different slogans had the operation been in their own city.
@From DIK: @SSSS:
Indeed thank you for making 300,000 citizens displaced and homeles, reports BBC,

Thank you Pak Army for donating your salary to IDPs.
Again what ashining example. This should be getting lots of press but it is not
Just want you to know I appreciate this.
Does any one can verify that what ISPR is saying is correct or just shake the head to the ISPR statments. It feels like some numbering system to me. Early morning select a random number and that will be the number of deaths on that day. Just wondering that the mujahideens can drop the arms with out fighting.... thats little weird.
"All terrorist bases were cordoned off" So they knew where their bases were all along. This is ridiculous! Kick out the Hamid Guls and Zaid Hamids from Pakistan or charge them with mass murder of 50,000 people !!
Good job jawans. Finally, the faujis are doing their job! My only concern is most of the IDP are going to end up in karachi/sindh. The IDP should settle in isoo, pindi and lahor. Karachi and sindhis have bear most burden from the IDPs and taliban is last 12 years, its about time the punjab, the breeding ground of terrorists pays its dues, i don't think city can take any more blow!
Interssting comments by Pakistanis. They are behaving like like a pigeon who closes eyes while facing a cat. Pakistanis think thT army will kill the terrorists and all will be good. That is the most stupid thinking one can ever imagine. Talibans have moved out, innocent civilians might be the largest casualty, and no one is watching the violation of civil rights. What no one is imagining is that Talibans will be back soon. Secondly, the maulana's and madrasahs all over Pakistan are producing more Talibans than anyone can imagine. Solution is not army action, it is secular education and long term solution and election of sagacious leadership. Please do not be Sheikh Chillis my dear Pakistanis, wake up.
The entire area be flushed out of terrorists including foreigners. Make Waziristan a province
"Many East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) terrorists and their affiliates have also been killed in the strikes. It was a massive blow to the terrorists and one of their main communication centres has been dismantled"
Is it just me who feels that this whole exercise has been undertaken at the behest of Pakistan's Chinese masters?
The politicians from the subcontinent can easily be bough. As it is Chinese are jittery after the recent strike in China which killed 31 people. Hence this convergence of goals.
ET - Please publish...
@Pakhtun: good point..
Maybe next time think before you create a monster who will come back to haunt you. Secondly these people need to be rehabilitated. Don't forget these same people liberated what is now azad Kashmir. The Wazirs are Pakistanis also.
I guess that now that Pakistan has started imploding before its breakup, even Express Tribune Moderator has given up recording any message against the carnage which the army has been involved in for months. But at least as a respect for the dead, it will be approprite to bring down the photos .of the soldiers whose fault was simply to follow illegal orders of assault on fellow muslims. There public display is primitive and an unislamic act.
Rex Minor
I have full confidence over the capability of pak army that inshallah they will wipe off the miscreants from north waziristan, but their real test start with how they cope up with the retaliation in the urban areas and although some impressive measures have indeed been taken by the arm forces, but I believe with these material measures some spiritual approach must be adopted such as istakhara ,kashf, prayers from spiritual pious people and etc, there is no harm in it and I believe it will surely bring blessings of ALLAH mighty.May ALLAH end these testing times quickly and make our country peaceful and prosperous, ameen.
Don't let any terrorist escape in burqa please. Keep an strong eye on the feet of the IDPs.
We fully support Pakistan Army.
The TTP are foreign agents and criminals.
They have nothing to offer Pakistan.
Once they have run away, because they are nothing but cowards, we can build a prosperous KPK and Pakistan.
We want investment, we want to be known for all the wonderful things Pakistan has to offer, not the barbaric acts TTP carry out.
Awesome Pak Army. Kill them all once and for all. Whole nation is behind you.
@Ayaz Ali:
There is nothing illogical Sir! The army of Kaffirs is now waging a war against men, women and children who have for thousands of years lived in the so called tribal region and have kept their musilm faith but are of Afghan Pakhtun ethnic! If the muslim clergy does not declare the current military and civilian Government as Kaffirs and condemn their indiscriminate bombinsg of villages then they themselves will be condemned as Kaffirs for all times to come.

Has anyone thought about possible presence of polio-virus in IDPs moving out of NWA? Govt should vaccinate them before relocating!
Good luck to pakistan fron Sri lanka . Thanx to Pakistan Sri lanka Crushed the LTTE and its time for Pakistan to ends its Taliban Insect prblem
Well done Gen Sb. Your commitment is highly appreciated. Don't let these terrorists run away. Kill them all.
What's wrong with this picture? Can you even imagine the US joint chief having a chinwag with a diplomat in Washington DC about a military operation? Oh, and the general badly needs a close cropped haircut. Let's try and look like a general if that's what we are.
Its Time for ''PayBack'' either its TTP or any other crap tehreek, you people are our own creation and We know how to demolish your foundation... #NoMercy
@Wearewerewolfs: sour grapes....or pure aversion to the prospect of terrorism being wiped out from pakistan...I think both.
Who's the running the State? Why does the burden fall on Military, if it has to deal & run all the affairs of State...
Why is the COAS of the 7th largest army in the world (with a nuclear arsenal) talking to the ambassador of Afghanistan. Where is our foreign office! its there job.
Airport in Karachi was attacked. People in Karachi suffered, the terrorists disappeared and died in Karachi with other team members still in hiding in Karachi, unless they had superhuman powers of a super man they couldn't have left the city and reached their primary bases in NW within a day. Then Why is operation taking place in NW? why not in Karachi, where these terrorists actually are!!??
Just because someone accepted the responsibility on behalf of Taliban? and we believed it?and since we already know that NW is where they come from so we decide to carpet bomb it?
I mean, don't you guys see the disconnect here? - 10 villages, a few of my friends who have relatives in the affected areas have been completely raised to earth so far, and it continues.
totally illogical!
@US CENTCOM: Your comment is spot on. US several times in the past offered its assistance for a coordinated operation from both sides of the border in NW but the same did not find favour of the Pak military. Had the said offer been accepted by Pakistan, terrorist organisations operating in both Pakistan and Afghanistan might have been defeated by now but unfortunately that did not happen to the bad luck for all countries in this region including US. Notwithstanding above, Pakistan has ultimately taken the right decision but the million dollar question still remains whether it will take on all terror organisations or do it selectively but if news reports are to be believed, all will be taken to task. US SUPPORT shall still be required along with Afghan forces which would be crucial as terrorists will escape from the porous border and find safe havens in Afghanistan. It is believed that TTP chief is still hiding in Afghanistan who can be eliminated by the effective and precision drones along with his clan both in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
I pray the operation to be successful, but one must know that this operation will cut the branch of the tree but the roots, foreign intellegence agencies, will remain there who will make the tree grow again which will be wilder and more barbaric. To finish the problem one must wipe off the roots . I dont say that go on war with them but one must think that why despite all there differences these same agencies do not destabilize Iran, the reason is that the life and death of the ruling class is with their people and all their material interest unlike pakistan are within their country I dont point finger on any particular person or institution ,its the story of all. therefore if one needs a permenant solution of this problem there is no rocket science what should be done otherwise there would be inevitable insurgency after few months. may ALLAH protect Pakistan
After years of unprovoked attacks and over 50,000 civilians and military men killed, the Pakistani nation had enough of this menace of terrorism that has plagued the nation for long. We have seen them reject terrorism in various recent polls. State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki said, “This is a Government of Pakistan operation. We’ve long supported Pakistan efforts to extend their sovereignty and stability throughout the country.” We wish the Pakistani nation well and complete success in their quest for peace.

The most despicable traitors in this whole saga are the leaders of JI and JUI-F. Just look at their track record. While the nation is being bled to death, these bleeding hearts have exposed their true colors. I have yet to hear them condemn the brutality of these terrorists, let alone support the army action. IK is not far behind. These are the criminals who should be tried for treason. I implore the crooked politicians to please get their priorities right and have the courage to call a spade a spade.. My heartfelt appeal to the nation is "Show solidarity and stand behind your brave soldiers instead of condemning the government action by calling them the puppets of the armed forces"
Pak Army Zinda Bad.
Keep it up, we are proud of you.
We will stop only after final victory, INSHA ALLAH.
@Alladitta now only Tata motors is manufacturing Land rovers. When these cars were manufactured, that time it wasn't owned by Tata motors. Clear your facts :)
Please don't use the word "killed" for pak army. They are "shaheed".
@Aseem: Shutup these are old landrovers when Tata wasn't born. Tata makes some crappy cars for their use only.
@Raj - USA: And just WHY should the Americans provide/give Pakistan those MRAPS which were only designed/paid for because of the actions of those beloved Pakistani "Good Taliban" assets (the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani groups) that caused such carnage in Afghanistan operating from their world famous Safe Havens inside Sovereign Pakistan???
There should be an action against those political parties who don't participate because they have shown which side they are supporting. Shame on you JI and JUI (F)...
Ban those terrorist supporters JI and JUI-F. Those who don't even condone murder of innocent Pakistanis need to be eliminated as well.
@someone: We would welcome any action by the Indian government against the Indian terrorists in Kashmir.
JI and JUI-F.......need to be dealt with.........Bangladesh stood firm and did what it had to do. So why can't we ?
ET, please do mandatory correction. Our soldiers are martyrs not killed.
I hope that this operation is the one to end all operations. Once it comes to a conclusion the federal government will need to begin massive development effort in the region and place a security and political structure comprising of locals to prevent militants from using that place again.
@Last Word I sure hope so that the decade old failed policy of "Strategic Assets" is now scrapped for good and a new policy of Strategic Economic Allies take over. I can assure you that Nawaz Shareef and PMLN is committed but Pakistan is much young when it comes to such decisions. Our mighty military has the last say and to that point I sure hope so that they realize this strategic assets policies have backfired and ruined our country. There is life beyond having a Pakistan friendly government in Afghanistan or India being utmost evil. Perhaps, now we can start an economic partnership with our neighbors. I pray for this and I hope for this. Generals in GHQ, you will still get plots and chances to run successful businesses, trust me, a better economy is also good for you!
E.T. This is not a rant against Pak Army, please publish this!
thank you for complete and complex reporting in real time. For those of us who live far from the homeland, it is a relief to be informed by ET - certainly my case. Again, our soldiers' welfare is in mind. Wish them success in the difficult terrain, and hats off to their bravery, of which I hope ET will write interesting stories.. thank you again..
@Umer What kid of stupid comment is this? Nawaz Shareef followed what every political party wanted, a process. A major force in KPK politics, PTI wanted to negotiate. They did, it failed.
Pakistan Army wanted political ownership, Nawaz provided one. What else you want. Need I remind you who created these Taliban and our so called strategic Assets? Lets be honest to ourselves.
I was big fan of Imran Khan but after listening his speech I am very disappointed by his words and thoughts he is still waiting to taking into confidence and terrorists destroying our country, lives and properties. Shame on Imran Khan
Pak Army Paindabad
Both Pakistani Army and Politicians should learn from this mistake, building strategic assets of non-state actors to fight proxy wars in Afghanistan and India has serious repercussions. What if Taliban had stolen tactical nuclear bombs blackmail to explode in major cities unless Pakistani army surrenders, its just matter of time before this happens.
Just finish them..once for all
'Pakistan is paying a heavy price for terrorism, at no cost the country will become the safe havens for terrorists' say Pak PM Well said, Mr PM, hope your country has finally realised the heavy price which it has paid for nurturing terrorism and using it as a tool against your neighbours. Does it also mean that the decades old policy of creating safe havens and exporting terrorism has also been abandoned. If not, your government and military may consider it now, as Pakistan may have to pay still a heavier price continuing this policy with India with Modi taking over as its PM who has categorically stated that his government shall show zero tolerance to any more terrorism unleashed from across the border. Notwithstanding above, people of India are with Pakistan in its efforts to eliminate terrorism in the country.
We are all behind our Army - Take note TTP (and their backers in India/Afghanistan)
We are here to stay.
Pakistan Zindabad
Pak Army needs better protection, better armour.
We need thousands of the armored cars that america uses in Afghanistan
Army wanted a political ownership, they got one, now go and do your job and shift from policies of proxies which was the reason for all this in first place. Good work Nawaz Shareef and PMLN.
@We need MRAPS:
"Our boys need these asap." "3000 of these should be transferred by ISAF ASAP".
YES, YES & YES. ISAF, NATO and US should help Pakistan Army to wipe out the terrorists and supply them MRAPS (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles) immediately. Russia / NATO should also supply some helicopter gunships to Pakistan Army immediately. This will be a big morale booster and also enhance the capability of Pakistan army to wipe out the terrorists.
And what exactly is the logical conclusion? When will we know we are done?
I pray for my Pak-Army... Finish them to death the way they have killed many innocents and soldiers.... please for ALLAH don't let them go, don't arrest, just finish them....
Soldiers are not killed They are Martyred only in the name of country and Allah
Time has come for Pakistan to be free of Taliban. Long live Pakistan and long live the Pak Fauj!
3000 of these should be transferred by ISAF ASAP
Our boys need these asap.
Along with terrorists the common people will also suffer and this is the only saddest part of the operation.
Nice to see Pakistan Army using LAND ROVERS now owned by TATA MOTORS of India.
Well done and finish these killers forever.. Pak Army should be appreciated for timely decision.Inshallah it would serve as a focal point for successful Pakistan as nation is with the army.
There should be less updates about the operartion on media...if a right thing is being done by army and government media should not over project it as throught media we are just letting the taliban and international agencies know all what we are aiming n our procedures...showing maps n hide out and pictures should not be done on social and televison media
Whether I endorse this operation or not really doesn't matter. What matters, and what I believe is more important to contemplate is that this operation would have far stretched repercussions. Firstly it would signify whether our Army is really capable of combating this war, given its historical alliances with some of the "elements" and its perceived "dubious nature". Do they really justify taking a massive percentage off the annual budget when more than 50% people are living in abject poverty?
Secondly, since this operation was initiated on Prime Minister's directives, it will be a huge test for him and his cabinet too. Next few days would demonstrate if the incumbent govt is really competent enough to fight this "war on terror" or not. Have they discussed or taken any steps in order to safeguard the innocent citizens who could potentially become target of the fall out of this encounter. And this vision goes for all four provinces not just Punjab as we have witnessed. Or will it be the provincial govt's responsibility to look after their inhabitants? Getting rid of physical enemy is not important it’s the mindset they have to get rid off too.
Just one comment, editor please publish. See the pakistan army jeeps in the picture above, 1995 model. excellent vehicles. however, the company manufacturing land-rovers is Indian Tata motors. Just saying brother.
Talks are for those who have the courage to talk, for rats that spread the plague via gutters, offence is the real recourse. It’s time to spray them down. Godspeed!
Operation Zarb-e-Azb updates: 6 soldiers killed, 3 others injured in IED explosion ??
Killed or Martyred?
@ Last Word
Dont u dare speak like that about our Army and ISI
Hopefully govt will plan a comprehensive post operation development plan for FATA... Its time to merge the FATA to mainland...
Killing one stratgic asset and retaining others will not solve problems.
@anwar kamal: Are u citing from history books of RSS? Go read proper history first!
Crush these anti state elements
Allah help Pak Army
Now Pakistan Army will make a History ... Pak Army Zindabad ...
Same operation is also needed in Karachi against "Karachi ke Taliban" hope UNDERSTAND!
Crush the enemy!
our troubled areas need to be deweaponised and given business so that they have something to work for apart from terrorism.
No surrender for these Termites! Eliminate and destroy them for GOOD please! Once a termite always a termite. Please destroy and eliminate the "Queen" also since they double in no time. There are no good or bad Talibans! Termites cannot be distinguished as good or bad!
Only ONE Word for you ALL .. PAKISTAN ZINDABAD !!!!
Finally! This is definitely a positive move, at the very least the enemy will be weakened when it comes to ceasefire/negotiations round 2. They were taking our kindness as weakness. Go Pak Army, we need Swat round 2!
Whilst the decision to go for operation is belated but welcomed....I hope each province will pro-actively take timely action to check & control inflow of IDPs & terrorists in garb of IDPs, internal intel & exit / entry point strengthened, enhance vigilance etc;....please make people aware through the media to look for suspicious characters in their locality & report etc; unless all these steps go hand in hand & in sync, military operation will not yield the desired result & resultant fallout & repercussions will be beyond apprehension in terms of life & property.
Media must play sensible. Yesterday, Express News TV was announcing the number of security officials deployed on Bannu jail. Dear ET, please STOP being irresponsible. Don't help the terrorists in plannings.
Problem is that the Afghan government that has been installed has been brainwashed to be pro India and anti Pakistan. I hope they seal the border on their side because it seems that the Afghan Government is anti Pakistan.
Strategic assets turned into strategic liabilities. Please convert strategic liabilities(Shia's,Balochis.Hazaras,Minorities,Ahmedis etc} into strategic assets.
Where is IK now? Will he support Pakistan Army or Taliban?
Imran Khan will be the most sad person in Pakistan who is a strategic partner of Taliban.
@Stand behind you Army: Don't expect from fanatics
Cut their fundings and you will be home!
Operation is against TTP and allied groups or just in Wazirstan, FATA, KP? If its against TTP then why not in South Punjab, Baluchistan against Quetta shura and in Karachi, TTP men escaped during and after Swat Operation have strong presence in South Punjab, Baluchistan and Karachi and they are continuing their activities since then. I know many pashtoon dominated areas in Karachi where TTP literally is in control and the pashtoon community is continuously under the threat from TTP.
AOA,
Alhamdulillah, brave decision by Govt. and we are with our greatest Pak Army.
@someone: So by your logic we should go all and all against them inside Afghanistan, locate their Indian sources and go against them too inside India?
Pakistan Zindabad & long live Pak Army we are with you.
Salam to our Heroes.
God Bless you & dont show them any mercy because they dont deserve this.
Pakistan Army never win in external war 1948,1965,1971.But always win in internal war except Bangladesh case
Great news! Eliminate them - every kind of Taliban! We are sick and tired of them. Kill them, arrest them and don't ever release them! May Allah help you in getting rid of these criminals!
The Pakistani Army needs to initiate a compulsory Reserve Army and all men and women of the age of 21 should be enlisted. The men can work as reservist to help the present military to spend more time killing the terrorist and the mundane jobs can be done by the young ,em and women to help unload to make this mission successful. the younger generation of Pakistanis have way too much time on their hands using their electronic toys to appreciate the many lives that were lost to create Pakistan. This reserve army should not excuse the children of the rich families but should be created to enroll all young people using their NADRA card as a measure of service completed.
@Enough: Tooba kitni jabatee Quam hay. Do you even know this Operation is against Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan which is Al-Qaeda support group and not TTP. Also due to negotiations no matter how limitedly effective they wered due to Incompetent, Dishonest, Sluggesh Govt of PMLN we still managed to get some of the big TTP groups to our side who are fighting along side Army against Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.
Hats off to Gen Raheel Shareef. Whole nation is with you. PAK ARMY Zindabad..
@The Failed Rebel: We have the example of Swat in front of us where we denied space to the TTP and established peace and security. The same is achievable in NW. There will be casualties unfortunately but that is a price we will have to pay to assert governance in this area.
Wake up all of you... You encourage the murder of another Muslim by the hand of a Muslim. What's wrong with you... Have we forgotten our legacy. Please Allah swt save us from ourselves and being hidaya to us Ameen.
In parallel, it is REALLY important to also flush out Talban supporters like Mullahs, Madrassas, sleeer cells et.....WITHOUT that, the positive impacts of the operations will be very short lived. It is time to tackle the problem of Talibanization and shedding blood in the name of religion.
I cannot believe I am writing this....still.... regards to Pak leadership both mil and civ; a job well started.
Allah huAkber
let them know we are not a failed state. We are with you our Jawans
Its never too late... GO ON Pakistan political leadership to own it & Pakistan Army to carry it on: It must be comprehensive operation from NW to all those Madrassas who support Taliban Ideology. If not, they will continue to serve as sleeper cell for TTP
We love our country, its defence forces and the leadership, The whole nation fully backs and support action against the terrorists till victory.
Hop,the govt and the Armed forces have learnt lessons from Swat operations...when maulana fazlullah escaped to Afghanistan and many terrorists in garb of IDPs spread into other towns and cities....it is hoped that this time the Army takes precaution to avoid repercussion and expected fallout in the towns and cities, otherwise this time battle will be more ferocious and stakes are indeed very high....may Allah swt protect Pakistan....
@Pakhtun: Pakhtuns should stop doing killing innocent civilians.
It is not fair to destroy its own strategic assets so mercilessly. Anyway...... where is IK ? Has he stopped doing anything these days ?
I sincerely hope that the Ruling Class in both Rawalpindi and Islamabad take notice as to general consensus certainly in regards to this action to eradicate these cockroaches, who have been classed as their "strategic assets" for past couple of decades for their very flawed foreign policy however if this actions are sincere and with clear objectives and not the selective options, then perhaps there is a hope for this Nation, otherwise it will implode from within !
When Raheel Sharif came into power, we saw a visible shift in policies. I am sure that CIA is providing us with coordinates and PAF jets target them promptly. No more drones needed. Obviously, civilians will be killed. But if i am a neighbor of terrorists, or even harboring them for any reason whatsoever, I should be not whine when a bomb hits me hard.
Who created the Taliban in first instance? Was there any need for creating them. Pakistan didn't had enough resources to tackle the major problems at home, but still went out went to facilitate wars beyond its national borders. God be with poor and sincere 'Awam' of Pakistan.
@The Failed Rebel
I am SO glad people like you exist on these forums. Progressive yet acutely aware of anti-Pakistan intel ops. You seem to understand our present predicament. Would love to ta;k more. BTW some people deeply involved with the planning of these ops assured me just an hour ago that this was in the works for months and has nothing to do with foreign pressure. In fact, we are specifically going after anti-State elements, even if it means crossing the border and finishing the job. I can understand your hesitation with regards to military ops especially given American misadventures in Iraq and Afghanistan. I think everyone should read about Operation Anaconda --- the US offensive to retake the Shah-i-Kot valley that was met with super stiff resistance even though Tier 1 operators (SEAL Team 6, Delta, ISA, etc.) were a part of it to better appreciate what our boys are up against in the treacherous terrain with a hardened enemy.
Take control over terrors, they should not be superior than state and innocent peoples
All appreciation for Nawaz Sharif for taking the right decision. He gave ample opportunity to dialogue with Taliban. After failure of dialogue, he took the right decision to start the operation.
Such a great news. Hope, our country is cleaned up, finally.
Better late than never, "Dair Aa'yad Drust Aa'yad", this should have been done several years before, which would have saved thousands of lives, now there shouldn't be any stopping, search, find & kill each and every foreign terrorist and their local sympathisers, no one would waste a single drop of tear for them, if the same is achieved the whole nation would be obliged and salute it's army for getting rid of these ba.......ds and their cronies and sympathisers. All the political parties/political leaders too should be scanned for any relations with these outfits am sure many heads would role there too. Long Live Pakistan Army & Pakistan Zindabad.
Better late than never is the most appropriate phrase for Pak army who has launched operation in NW which was long over-due. However, all Pakistanis and local police need to be vigilant as terrorists hiding in all major cities will target both civilians soft targets like shopping centres, mosques, trains etc and security forces check posts. According to my own assessment, all major cities should have been cleared of all terrorists hide-outs first before starting ground operations but since the same has not happened people should expect a major backlash from these barbarians. Nevertheless, best of luck to the armed forces of Pakistan who should emerge victorious with Godspeed.
well done pak army, we are with you.........perish all these barbarians,
I bet Murica will not like this. No reason for more drones after this.
Not a good decision by the government. It will have a huge backlash. May Allah safeguard Pakistan. Ameen
Let us hope the media behaves with discretion and responsibility, while the operation is in force.
@The Failed Rebel:
I am sorry you can keep on crying...the way Swat got freed this area will also be....you can negotiate with them...till all are airport, ports and streets are attacked...!!!
Operation with such fan fare and biggles will achieve zero results.
Imran Khan, Fazlur Rehman and Sami Ul Haq are drowning their sorrows as we speak!
I'm a staunch supporter of Imran Khan, BUT i hope he does not follow the so called mullah's i.e JI & go against this operation - yes, this will be painful for the people living there but we have no other choice but this! When all this comes to end we'll be able to start developing FATA areas, with these foreign funded terrorists we'll never be able to develop our country. We're with you, sons of soil! Pakistan Army Zindabad, Pakistan Zindabad!
@SOBIA:
He tried to save taliban but he could not after Karachi airport attack. He has never condemned Taliban and have even called them misguided brothers. His internal minister called Taliban muhib-e-watan a few days ago.
Give peace another chance. So we can avoid bloodshed on both sides of the border afterall they are our people our Pakistani bro and sisters who have been victimized badly to get dollars in the past.
This is an excellent decision. The Taliban and their supporters have caused tremendous damage to the country. Those who support these fundos need to see the clips and pictures coming out of Iraq where mass executions are being conducted in the name of Islam. Hats off to PAK Army. The entire nation is with you. Clean up the mess!
@salman: I never said it wasn't a success. It was a different story, you missed the context.
Good ET, now we're getting more updates about IDP and truce options. This is how a Muslim army should go to battle. Pakistan Zindabad!
Good news for people of Pakisran. All political parties must support the armed forces to eliminate TTP from North Waztrstan .Wish them success
WHEN there will be similar action in IOK to crush the financiers of this TTP...? Are they afriad. Why they not have done this until now?
@The Failed Rebel:
Swat operation never got failed and there are no militants anymore. Tourism has started happening back again. Swat operation was perfect slap on pessimists like JI,JUF and people like you.
Operation in NW has started !! Congrats and good luck to our brave army.My concern is that militants have already fled deep in to the mountains close to afghan border and most will eventually cross the border to into Afghanistan as soon as the army takes control.Whats next 4 months on they will come back and it's business as usual or this time we have a strategy in mind to keep the militant out permanently ?
All the best. Happy hunting...
My extremely conservative, very orthodox, religious, inlaws are glued to the TV praying for the success of the military operation. They are praying for the safety of our soldiers against Kafirs.
I thought only if these terrorists knew what pious muslims really think of them..
Pakistan Zindabad..
Go Go Go.ALLAH will help You.AAMEEN GOD BLESS U.
KILL THEM ONCE AND FOR ALL . WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH . PAK ARMY ZINDABAD
Brave decision by the brave Prime Minister. Allah bless Pakistan. Allah bless Pakistan Army and Prime Minister.
Cleansing of crooks looks imminent and a new power triangle is in works. The timing of the kill is very important, US withdrawal from the neighbor is going to reversal of this more than 10 years old policy which needed an update exactly at this point in time. Best of luck my army. PAKISTAN PAENDABAD.
Whole nation salute Pakistan Army. Kill the beasts on our soil once and for all. Make Pakistan a place worth living. They have killed our enough innocent countrymen.
perfect time to implement capital punishment to the terrorists in jails
Haqqani network will not be touched. Operation is doomed to be a failure.
God be with you. We fully support our Jawans.
People who keep on harping about negotiations, can they give one instance of having had one TTP person lay down their arms. How can one believe that they are willing to lay down their arms, and respect the peace process. Has any of the politicians convinced one terrorist to come to the police or any legitimate national agency ,and relinquished their arms. Can they guarantee that TTP terrorists wll respect peace process without having them lay down their arms. The simple answer is a big "No"!!And peolpe who talk of the ideology -true they have one,but is a perverted and sick ideology. What ideology makes one target one's co-citizens without regard for women, children ,and non-combatants.Why don't they go and fight Americans, rather than blow up their own country men. There is a limit to violence that a society can tolerate against itself. And remember they are the ones who took up arms against the country, not other way round. They don't have a legal or moral legitimacy to start wars on a country. They have to fought and eliminated now.Otherwise one can see what is going on in Iraq.TTP is offering olive branch just to buy time so that they can join with ISIS to do to Pakistan what they are doing in Iraq.Time is now to eliminate them now before it is too late.
@Naeem Khan Manhattan,Ks: So I think you would be OK if Indian army/air force bomb villages in Kashmir to kill terrorists...right?
Mashallah, Zindabad Pakistan Army, we are with you our wishes & prayers are with you. Allah will give you success in your every step of this mission inshalah. Keep moving & eliminate these thugs from our country.
One can hear faint sounds of moaning and chest thumping somewhere out of Banigala right now.
Dear PM, could you please put the Nihari down for a second, meet all the Heads of the Political Parties and the CM and ensure they are taken into confidence. Then lift that mighty posterior of yours and visit the front line troops who are sacrificing their lives so you can eat your Nihari in relative peace. Pakistan Zindabad.
@Akram Malik:
He may well be tucking into some Nihari, who knows. If I was him/the PM I would be at an FOB with our troops tonight.
I am sure if IK was PM thats what he woulddo also, BUT we have NS. Oh well!
Anyway lets at least the population get behind our Army.
@Pakhtun: With pleasure.
We have no issue with Pakthuns, just agents of India and Afghanistan who have murdered 60,000 innocent Pakistani civillians.
After this operation, the 3m Afghans in Pakistan have to be repatriated (humanely) and border sealed to the etent possible.
Great to hear that our Army has finally launched the overall operation against Taliban/AQ/Jihadist terrorist in FATA, NW areas, as I had been propagating for the last couple of years.
Pak Govt should also immediately impose Defence of Pakistan Rules or similar laws to prevent the Taliban and enemy agents in our media, political parties, religious leaders Islamist Jihadis groups in the civil society from promoting enemy propaganda, and views and lies. Our police and Army should also neutralise the Taliban agents, frontmen in the urban areas.ious These steps are extremely important. This is a vicious, fascist, evil, blood thirsty enemy using Islam to gain power and control over people.
The decision has come late, 60,000 lives and resources lost, yet a huge relief. Pakistan and Pakistanis deserve better - the situation of Iraq and Syria could spread to its territory - it is time all those groups including in Punjab that back sectarianism and terrorism be given well deserved justice - the justice they impose on innocent peoples because of creed or belonging to the armed forces, police or rangers. Negotiating with extremists sent the wrong message - TTP believed they were at an advantage, and our armed forces could not take them on. They shall soon learn a well deserved lesson. The aptly named operation - Zarb e Azb - is complex given the porous border with Afghanistan where civilians as terrorists will flee. If only Afghanistan would collaborate from its side of the border. If memory does not fail me, the mullah who gave orders to kill Malala, escaped to remote eastern Afghanistan. Time for the region to have a multilateral security agreement in place which would cover such issues. I Wish the armed forces all the success of the world and may its soldiers go into N Waziristan with their heads high - they are fighting for the country's values and existentialism.
"It is a welcome news for Pakistanis and even for people across India and Afghanistan as well". Why do you Indians always bring in India and Afghanistan in the picture. What about the terror being inflected by Indian State on Kashmiris, Assamies and other minorities and why don't you talk about that too. Pakistan will deal with it's problems and India should stop the terror in Kashmir. Just ask the people of Kashmir who is responsible for more than 100,000 Kashmiris killed and thousands of the women raped in the last 10 years, allow the world press there and it will tell the true story to the world. Stop being such self righteous, we will take care of our own and even the terroristic interference in Baluchistan by India.
It is no use Unless you catch and stop mullas that have been teaching a bent version of islam to thes tribal illiterates .
After North Waziristan, an operation should be launched in South Punjab as well. Eliminate them and all associated groups once and for all.
@The Failed Rebel: they are no ideology just a bunch of criminals and army will surely wipe them out.
"As always, armed forces of Pakistan will not hesitate in rendering any sacrifice for the motherland"
This is a very problematic assertion.
Pak Fauj zindabad!
I just wonder how would Pakistanis respond if Indian army takes similar actions against terrorists in Kashmir.
When Pakistan takes action without differentiating between the good and bad Taliban, then progress will be made.
It is a welcome news for Pakistanis and even for people across India and Afghanistan as well. But I am constraint to point out that this should be a decisive operation and not an eye wash for consumption of Pakistanis and to please US who has linked further aid with NW operation. Most of the terrorists knew about this operation have already moved to safer areas in Afghanistan and army is unlikely to face much opposition as the same happened last time. This operation is going to be over within a couple of days with military declaring victory and Pakistani overjoyed. But if army after completing operation moves back, the militants whose infrastructure is still intact shall come back with a vengeance and start their violent activities all over again as happened in SW last time. I am not being pessimistic but your military cannot be trusted which the upright media like yours must be vigilant to highlight the same which I HIGHLIGHTED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST WHICH WAS PUBLISHED BY ET but not now as you have faced violent attacks by ISI and militants as well.
Why not go after Punjabi Taliban?
Great news. Wipe out all the terrorists from the Land of Pure!
TTP has rightly blamed the punjabi establishment which in this case is the pak army why is this bombardment not done in south Punjab? Are pashtoons lives not equal to punjabi lives? Shame on this army which is targeting innocent pashtoon children and women.
@The Failed Rebel
Counter-insurgency (COIN) operations require a large ground-holding presence to inhabit the vacuum that is created as a result of the surgical assault (carried out mostly by specialized elite operators backed up by gunships, artillery, jets and tanks. So, don't worry, the Army has learnt a lot from low intensity conflict recently, including entirely new doctrines, training protocols, etc. The ISI did a spectacular job isolating the foreign-funded and hardcore amongst the others, and their days are certainly numbered. You are right to point out that the US has failed to provide security or stability to both Iraq and Afghanistan --- military operations alone cannot guarantee any kind of peace, but a multi-pronged approach including holding the territory and ensuring infrastructure development and a swift and effective civil administration are the real keys. It is my understanding that the Army leadership understands this approach very well now. The Chief himself was instrumental in writing our COIN doctrine =)
These are just foot soldiers. We should go behind border to kill masterminds. Most of these foot soldiers dnt even know they are wrongly being used on the name of religion.
Well done PM Sharif and COAS Sharif. Have no mercy on them! Imran Khan, please stay away from this and avoid any controversial talk! Lets make Pakistan a safer and happier place for us and for our children.
Leave Pakhtuns alone!
Finally....crush these cavemen once and for all. Pakistan has bled enough at their hands.
@Critical thinker....!!!: I am sorry that you don't understand guerilla warfare. Secondly, our nature is not weak. I am very sure that all of civilians and forces will walk to war if the agenda at hand was Kashmir and the threat was an external one. This situation involves a lot of local nerves. A surgical operation is very very different from a full-scale operation. Though I think that Army is doing a surgical operation, which is targeted and the result of the dialogue we have had with TTP factions, one can never be sure.
@The Failed Rebel:
I am also a PTI supporter but sorry cannot wait more long..enough lives have been taken away from by these terrorist..if it fails than we will see..but right now enough is enough...these monster are taking advantage of our weak nature...!!!
All the best Pakistan army. Eliminate each and every one of them!
Better late than never. Go for the kill. Avoid creating media hype. Media in this regard should play a patriotic role.
Kudos - go after them all whether they are TTP, Haqqani or whatever. Take sovereign control of Waziristan and maintain it. Post a sign at the border --- TERRORIST BEWARE - stay out of Pakistan!
Where is the chief exective of the state? Should the PM not have announced taking nation into confidence?
Clear the motherland as you did in Sawat and Malakand Divisions from terrorists, the whole nation with Pak Army and our prayers with you as well ....
Dear Pak Army please cleanse our beloved homeland from these Uzbek terrorists. Kill them...Kill them all..
Alright. So if this operation fails, Allah forbid, then what? Will the government officials move around without protocol or would the backlash be again on lower salary rangers/police etc. ? USA failed with $4t+ spent on war. Whom are we targeting in this operation? TTP or Afghan Taliban? Foreign fighters? Are we making the mistake USA made for 10 years by trying to fight an ideology with a gun? There is some serious lack of information and agenda which is a prerequisite for such actions. What measures have been taken to handle the displaced civilians? Will we leave their homes in the mud after we are done eliminating TTP?
Where is chief executive of the State? Should the PM not have made the announcemment and taken the nation into confidence
Pak forces - we are right behind you. Just make a call for civilians to join in this jihad against TTP animals. We are ready. Pakistan Zindabad.
Pakistan Army Zindabad
Bang bang bang. Go islamic army go
@stand behind your army Well said man.Spot on!
Imran Khan would be sorely disappointed today - expect a mind boggling statement by him anytime soon.
It is never too late but we waited and waited and lost so many precious lives and brought country to its knees. Please also keep an eye on 'their men in uniform." They are responsible for such a mayhem.
The political leadership needs to give full support to this operation! Lets hope they do.
so after giving ample time for safe exit for as many as possible , operation finally .
I hope these savages are dealt with once and for all.
Then I hope foreigners, investors, tourists start coming back to Pakistan so we can rejoin the civilised world.
Had enough of these barbarians who murdered 60,000 civilians.
I back our jawans.
Pakistan Zindabad
BRAVO !!!! God Bless you All ! This is what everyone was waiting for.
Kill them!!! Kill them all blood sucking terrorists!!! Allah o Akbar...the nation is behind you PAK army...give us a shout if you need us...we are ready to give our blood to wipe them off this land of pure!!! Pak army Zindabad!! Pakistan paindabad!!
Good luck our brave jawans. Our prayers and full support is with you. The nation will ever remain grateful to you for eliminating terrorism in the country. Pakistan Zindabad.
May Allah save us from these animals now and in future, but strategic assets of past has caused so much damage and again there should be no distinction among taaliban would serve the cause other wise good taaliban of today will make us pay tomorrow.
Lets PRAY for PEACE as an outcome and Stand Tall with the Govt and Army. May ALLAH TA'ALA Protect the innocents and bring PEACE to our Motherland #PAKISTAN. Ameen.
PM should address nation to gather support and best wishes for Pak army.
After the murders of tens of thousands, finally the conscience of our government has woken up. Nawaz Sharif was quick to announce the talks mantra in the assembly, but the coward can't make the announcement of the operation in public.
Best News Ever!
Thank God ... :) :)
Smoke 'em out.
What took you so long ? What happens to your strategic assets ? Better late than never !
Go, go, go..
Finally! Kill those terrorists!
Dear IK Yes there probably was rigging in the elctions Yes the rulers have stashed cash away overseas Yes the peace talks may well have been handled better But now its time for all to support our boys- that includes the tribal people - to root out this evil for ever.
Thank you, thank you very much Pakistan Army. We welcome the much awaited move. Now its time to get rid of these dogs and killers. The whole nation is with you and praying for your early success.
Pak Army Zindabad!!!!!! Go for the kill!!
Go PAK Army Go...Remove these Terrorist from face of the Earth... the whole nation stands behind you, May Allah Helps you always...
I would like to tell the TTP that you ar enot Pakistani. If you are muslim, you have disgraced a noble religion by your savage behaviour.
Surrender and face the law, or put on your Indian bangles and run home to Karzai where you belong.
We are with our PAKSITAN ARMY.
WE ARE WITH YOU PAK FAUJ.
Pakistan Zindabad
Allah O Akbar, Allah O Akbar! We are with you Pak Army and ready to pay the price for peace. Go ahead and Finish them!!
Alhamdulillah. Flush them out! Enough is enough! We deserve a clearner Pakistan!
